It's a common problem, Try actually reading up by yourself for the answers. (hint) A sticky thread in this sub forum may help. You just took more time creating a thread than it would have taken for you to find the solution to your issue.

Yes, this problem has been posted on these forums a number of times.

Your controls (to move, shoot, etc) have been erased. Go under the controls tab ingame and click "set to default" to regenerate the default controls.

You may want to load up to a map once to get the controls to stay (not sure if that is required) before going in and changing the key binds to those that suit you best. :)

I think there is a way to set your controls file to "read-only" so that it won't happen again but I can't remember the exact file.

The thread with the solution is on the very first page in this forum section...so it should have been seen even without thinking to use the magical search function as another option...

I have had this problem a few times. The quickest and easiest fix is to make a copy of the profile file and save it somewhere. If you go to ..."MyDocuments/BF2/profiles" ..in "profiles" you will see a folder named 0001. That is you user profile, copy and save it somewhere, next time the problem happens its just a matter of removing that folder and replacing it with the saved copy. If you have more than one profile then the others will be named 0002 0003 etc etc. Its much easier and quicker than resetting all the controls again. Its saved me loads of time as I`ve had this problem occur several times now. Cheers

Just "Write Protect" your Controls File and it will never happen again :)
