I have the same problem. I tried reinstalling orginal BF 1942 (twice), I formatted the HD, cleaned the win registery, and downloaded the mod several times. BF 1942 is working and the install files doesnt seem to be corrupted. When I try installing the mod I get at 43 % and "CRC error - cannot install the following file: E:\Battlefield 1942\mods\FH\archives\sound.rfa The really annoying thing is that I had the superb mod working some days ago, but with long loading time. (have 1 gb ram) I therefore decided to move the game to another partition (have 3 HDs) I had it on the same partition as WIN XP. A long story short - it didnt work and I have tried to get it working by doing all the stuff mentioned above. I'm not a genius at computers, but I usually get my way around. But this time I'm really stuck. Help anyone?

I had the same problem.. yeah it's a crappy installer and the devs relly need to find a new one for the next release..

but the good part is the installe does work (it's just crappy!) there are severel ways to get it to work..

1. when you get the eror just try installing again and again and at some point it should work.. but thats not very effective.

2. try reboting you comp this sometimes work.. you could also try to do something like this: rebot your comp install file 1 out of 3 rebot install file 2 out 3 rebot install 3 out of 3 .. but this also takes alot of time

3. this seems to work the best and dosen't take time, I did it myself.. when it ask where to install the file it says something like this: C:/programs/eagames/bf1942 just do the path manualy: click C:/programs/eagames/bf1942 (or whatever your path is to bf1942..) and it should work if it dosen't try it again.. :) just remember to do this to all the installs that includs 1 out of 3 - 2 out of 3 - 3 out of 3

if non of this works.. your fuck't :D

hope it help't

cheeeezuz!!! It worked - woohooo!!!!!

I re-extracted the files twice to other locations and tried over and over again. Totally illogical, but it worked.

To bad such a GREAT mod has a installer with so many problems.

I have exactly the same problem. I have a 1.5 MB connex via cable modem & STB with NTL. I have so far downloaded this MOD from three TOTALLY different sources and have yet to successfully install it. Last night I even got my brother to download the 1.7 GB file from the same source ('FilePlanet', using the same USA mirror), while I downloaded it to the 'Slave' machine, which resides on my LAN. Suffice to say, my brother's download and install worked perfectly, while mine gave EXACTLY the same CRC errror in the Sound.rfa file, at 36% of the way through the Part 1 install attempt. So, each and every time it has failed on Part 1, with a CRC error on the Sound.rfa. I have been with the BF 'community' since the 'Wake Island' demo release, have participated in the making of a MOD, for the clan I ran, as well as followed the 'Modding community' since the games' inception. One thing that almost seems to be a part of it, is the problems that 'end-users' have with actually installing the bloody thing, usually caused by a corruption of one of the .rfa's. Also, it seems that the larger the file, the more likely you are to get an error with the installation. Well, I have given-up on downloading the 3-part install, as well as the 1.7 GB one, as well as trying all the different methods outlined above. Instead, I am going to get my brother's PC over here, set it up on my LAN and copy the FH folder from the BF 1942 MODS folder and see if that works. If it does, I'll burn the bugger onto DVD!!! Watch this space! /\/\.

Sometimes it helps just to install while being disconnected from the internet and turn off antivirus programs.

Funny thing is: I just click install, go to kitchen, grab some food and when back at keyboard everything went fine...

But: Installer problems are noticed and we will try to find a better solution...
