How do I avoid sprinting when I double-tap the 'W' key? I only want to sprint when I hit my sprint button, not when the game decides that I've tapped the walk button twice (causing the annoying run/walk spasm that was described >here< and put down to lag or FPS drop, which it ain't).

I think it's bound to the setting C_PIAltSprint in the controls file. Does anyone know what do I need to do with this? Delete the whole line or change it to something else? I've tried playing about with it but I can't get the change to work, and googling finds nothing useful.

Also, there's a control.con and an control.fh2 file in my profile. Which one do I have to change?

Sorry haven't tried this yet, but if I remember correctly, then putting a 0 where the 1 is in that commandline should switch it off.

Thanks N24, but that didn't do it. I've now deleted this whole line in both files and it seems to have done the trick:

ControlMap.addKeyToTriggerMapping c_PIAltSprint IDFKeyboard IDKey_W 1000 0

Now if only I could work out how to do a crouch toggle key my controls would be perfect.

If you wan to toggle the crouch you should look at the prone definition in the controls.con. Since the prone is a toggle button it can work for crouch too. Btw I have defined the crouch button to my right mouse button. This works better the the default one.

I wondered about that but my prone is:

ControlMap.addKeyToTriggerMapping c_PILie IDFKeyboard IDKey_LeftCtrl 0 0

And the crouch is:

ControlMap.addKeyToTriggerMapping c_PICrouch IDFKeyboard IDKey_LeftShift 0 0

Doesn't seem to be anything that tells the system to toggle the action instead of one-shot it.

If Im not mistaken DICE didnt want you to be able to toggle crouch.. had this discussion in bf42 and BFV days also, seems they hardcoded it... dunno about BF2, but I hope they did, you're supposed to hold the button down when you crouch.
