I have get kicked to desktop at times. The one consistent thing I've noticed is the map. I think I've narrowed it down to the Charlie Sector map. My question is which map *should* I have? The one I have now is: Omaha_Charlie-Sector-1944.rfa 14.7mb Sunday Oct 16, 2005 Is this the map I should have?

Yes this has hapened to me as well, when loading charly sector, i got crashed to desktop as well, the only way i could fix this was to remove anything to do with BF42 and reinstall ervything, im talking profiles saved games evrything. thats how i fixed it all up.

I had the same with Alpenfestung and Arnhem (Arnhem wasnt not that long ago when it bugged for some reason and made me ctd even before it worked fine). I simply just got the map .rfa file from a person who has a working version of the map and replaced the old .rfa that became somehow corrupted. Now it works again.

So no, the first thing to do is definately not to go and reinstall _everything_, try resolving the problem with a simple file change.

i installed mappacks 1, 4, 5 and 6 and the whole FH setup was ruined. i had to uninstall fh map paks but when it came to uninstalling FH 0.7 it couldn't find the uninstall file and only allowed me to uninstall map pack5!!!! so i had to manually rip out FH.7 from hdd and registry. i've uninstalled bf1942 too to be sure and cleaned up hdd etc and reinstalled it but am afraid to install any map pack for fear of the same thing happening again. has anyone else had this issue? i really want to try out the map packs but am afraid it will cause problems again. cheers das

edit: i think the uninstal executable for FH.7 was replaced by map pack 5 uninstall executable.

Only mappack6 is being run anywhere atm, the rest may not run with FH.7, since they are from before .7... Only mappack6 is updated to run with .7 for sure, some of the maps in the older mappacks may work, but some wont. And may be why it ruined your install. And the older maps arent been run on any servers, so unless you wanna try to play them offline, you dont need them. I wouldnt install anything except mappack6.
