I cannot play FH due to crashing very often. I usually crash within about 3 minutes of a map loading. There is not a specific thing that I am doing or a specific map that I can single out as being the cause either. Sometimes I am running, sometimes aiming, sometime trying to get into a vehicle, etc. I know my machine can handle it, as it is the same machine I played it on about a year ago. It is a Dell 8400 series, 3.2ghz P4, Gforce 6800, 3gb RAM. The only thing that I have changed about it is the addition of 2gb Ram. When I crash, it goes straight to desktop and gives me the option of sending a report to the FH team. I have uninstalled everything, reinstalled BF2 and the 1.41 patch, reinstalled punk buster, and reinstalled FH2 all with no improvement. I have shut down background tasks that I do not need (stuff like itunes, my printer files, etc.) and even my antivirus. Does anyone have any more ideas?

Hmmm your GPU is a bit on the weak side, so it might be that when you play FH2 with the lowest graphic settings you will encounter an error with the lighting or such and then it might ctd you back to your desktop

Try again without the newly added RAM, just to be sure there are no hardware issues. If it runs flawless there might be something wrong with the RAM modules.

The computer you got is running with dual channel mode adressing the RAM in the intitial state. Most likely you had 2x 512 MB. When you added the 2 Gigs, did you put it in the remaining slots? Did you pay attention to dual channel mode? Suggestion: remove the 2x512 MB Ram modules and put the two 1Gig-modules at the place of the old modules. Do not insert the remaining 512MB-modules and try running the system at 2 Gigs. 2 Gigs are enough for you to run FH2 on decent settings. Most likely you would also need a bios update to adress more than 2 Gigs with this system properly.

If that doesn't help try different settings. You should be good to go with a mixture of low and medium settings. Try to strain the CPU as less as possible.

My game just crashed 7 times after aprox. 3 minutes on Alam Halfa. Is this some sort of hex? Then someone else may answer, quick.:p

Jimmypop97, what virusscanner are you using?

Edit2//: I killed the virusscanner, but that did not help. Lets have a look what I kill next...

Ok, I just tried everything.

I reinstalled FH2. I tried to update punkbuster. It is up-to-date. I cleaned graphics caches using the toolbox. BF2 is not affected. I can join a punkbuster-protected multiplayer-server and it does not crash. If I join an empty FH2 server I'll crash within 3 minutes.

Right now I realized that there are other people discussing the subject in the thread below.

Yup - join us. I have a feeling this is going to become more prevalent, and I am not a geek/programmer. Anyone know if Windows Firewall updates have anything to do with this?
