hey guys

since FH2 lags way too much for me i was wondering if upgrading another gig of RAM would make it playable on my PC

i've attached the DXDIAG file, so if someone who has a clue about it may tell me if it's worth or not, i'd be very thankfull

I doubt that, since you got 2GB already. Going from 512MB to 1GB makes a big difference, going to 2GB from there is noticeable but anything more makes no difference performance wise with BF2/FH2.

Maybe updating the latest DirectX 9.0c from November 2008 might help a bit if you did not already. A newer driver for the 7800GTX is not available as it seems. My guess it that it is more a mix of your CPU and the videocard if you try to run FH2 with all settings maxed out on a high resolution. DirectX 9.0c November 2008 Web Updater

i was running everything at medium, but at crowded places it starts lagging heavily

funny thing is that it was quite playable when FH2 first came out

hmm, the game should run fine on this setup in medium - high settings, although the cpu could be a bit weak.

maybe defrag your harddrive (i know this is a lame line). do you have any resource hugging programs running in the background, like norton or some crap like that.

Trillian and xfire are also always running

I have a similar problem... check this thread, it might be about your same issues http://forums.filefront.com/forgotten-hope-general-discussion/387024-framerate-issues.html

so far the only thing the systems affected have in common is an nVidia video card (but from different series anyway -7xxx and 8xxx- so that's unlikely to be the problem). Apparently we all managed to run 2.0 and 2.1 with no problems.

Are you guys getting CPU slowdown, or network lag?

I've had a problem with network lag since the release of 2.15. Even playing on a server close to home, I get fluctuating pings of 30-700. Didn't have this problem on 2.1. Tried a FH reinstall, BF2 reinstall, HDD reformat, nothing helps.

So it seems like its either FH or its my cable network. However, I don't lag in any other online games that I play. HALP

Hmmmm

I just started up a game of bf2 and I got a lot of lag. So time to hook right up to the modem to see if its my router.

Strange. My computer is weaker than yours. I'm very lowly, I'd barely realize lag as long as the framerate is above 20. Overall, I must say, it is all on a level I can handle. Is that lag temporary? Does it occur only sometimes, when you look at certain directions? Sorry for grabbing this old stuff again, but I suffer from that from time to time if the server is full (64players). I guess it is an CPU insufficiency.
