Ever since I have installed FH2, I have noticed abnormally low FPS issues. Obviously, I know the game requires more resources than regular BF2 (as do most mods), but I'm sure that with my current computer config I shouldn't have any issues running FH2 smooth as silk. I often get smooth framerate, but when I start entering towns like on Sfakia, my FPS drops sharply to 20 or less. I think my overall FPS on that map hangs around 30. That's just an example, but it's like that on alot of maps.

I won't offer any of my ideas... I'll just post my computer specs and you guys can offer me answers. I'm tired of trying to figure this out!

Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 3 AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ 2.2ghz Processor (dual core) Geforce 8800 GTS 320 MB 3 Gig of RAM Sound Blaster Audigy Sound

Any help would be amazing... I'm tired of getting killed because I can't react in time.

Your CPU is too slow. Lower the settings.

Really? Are you so sure? I talked to guys who had lower end CPU's than mine, and they ran the game just fine.

See that's what I thought as well... as I said there are people with lesser processors running the game just fine. What gives? Yes I have latest drivers and all that... yes I have defragged lately.

Try to set all settings to high, except textures, set those to medium. I had a similar problem and that solved it. (There apears to be some bug when I set them to high)

What do you call "fine", when you say others are running it smooth? Are you running the game at maximum settings? I guess yes, as you're using an data hungry 8800 with only 320 MB. FH2 doesn't come with the same system requirements as BF2 but above. Due to the higher number of objects, the increased view distance and the quality of textures the difference in performance between open landscape and areas covered with buildings and objects is much bigger than in vanilla BF2. It is not optimized to cover a larger bandwith of computers, down to the slowest system. System requirements for FH2 will rise with every patch, so you gotta keep in touch with reference games like Crysis or others.

I'm running an Athlon 64 3200+ with a GeForce 6800 (low clockspeed) and 2 Gigs of ram. I cannot run the game above medium settings. And still, I get random performance drops to 4fps sometimes. There were even situations when my framerate dropped playing FH1 with this system (Rheinübung).

Evenmore, if I remember right, you'd be not the first who would complain about poor performance on a 4400.

Well, wait, maybe someone else can help you.
