I have a complicated problem, but anyone who knows a little about computers should be able to solve this. Ok, here goes: a while ago, I bought and installed a deluxe pack of Battlefield 1942, and it worked fine, without any problems. Back then, I had a Windows 2000. I changed my system to an XP system, and I still had Battlefield 1942 lurking in my harddrive memory, though I never actually installed it on the new system. When I found Forgotten Hope 2 for BF2, I installed it and played, it is a great mod, just a little laggy on my bad computer. Then I found out about the original Forgotten Hope, and I just had to play it. So I downloaded the files, and I tried to install them. But Forgotten Hope did not detect Battlefield 1942 on my computer. So I just uninstalled Battlefield 1942, and reinstalled it, using the same CDs and CD key. But, as my installation got to 98%, the program stopped, saying: Error: Specified componenet cannot be found in the media, or something like that. :mad:I really want to check out Forgotten Hope 1. Can anyone help me?

Sounds like it. If you still have the files of the first install on your Pc you could 'install' it via the registry using the Registrationfile in the Folder "C:\Battlefield1942\eReg\" to insert BF1942 into your registry as well as your key. Other than that you can only buy a new version of BF1942 (ca. 5-9€) or download the first or was it the scond CD and install it with your legal key.
ok, I do in fact have the old file, but i went to the directory that you suggested. I opened every application, even the readme, but nothing worked. Am I doing something wrong?
