Tedacious;4542525what is 3D3? I can't see 3D3 written anywhere in the dxdiag, and when I google "deactivate 3D3" I don't get any results that say anything about 3D3.

I guess he is talking about Direct3D, should be in the dxdiag > Display (translated from the german version, the 3rd from the left) > DirectX section. It has to be enabled for best performance, but it is usally like that by default.

well, I tried to deactivade Direct3D. but it didn't work.

however, I THINK I found somewhere to update my graphic cards driver. I got it from this site: Radeon x1900 However, I installed it (said to be version 8.8), but when I looked it up. it was still version 6.5 or something like that. did I just upgrade som other software? what did I do wrong? can you link me to a driver update?

um... ooookaaay... I just found out something interesting.

All the time since we got BF2, we've been able to play it single player on all of the users on our computer. but we could only play on internet on the user where we installed the game in the first place (I emailed EA about this but got no real help).

Now we noticed, that we can still play single-player on the other users with no problem. but we still can't play on the internet on any of those users.

My conclusion is that it isn't a graphical error, but rather something with the user. do you have any ideas?

if not, then I will just install it again on another user to play, but it would be good to get this problem fixed once and for all.

The latest one for your card / XP can be found here: AMD GAME Drivers & Tools Option2 > Display Driver only

Important: You have to uninstall the old one first. Control panel > software > ati display driver > remove. Then it asks you to reboot, do so and when windows is trying to tell you there is new hardware cancel that. Install the downloaded driver, reboot again. Setup your desktop resolution and so on again. If the installation fails (still old driver version), try to reinstall it again (same procedure). A buddy had the same issue with the new drivers and a second installation fixed it.

thanks Apo! however, read my latest post, I'm farily sure that it isn't a graphical problem. Nevertheless, I will update my drivers!

I will now reinstall BF2 on another user. hopefully it will work, I'll be back and keep you updated.

Sorry mate, i went thru the posts way to fast. Since your driver was quite old, think 2years+ it might also be a good idea to get the latest DirectX version which is from August 2008. DirectX 9.0c August 2008 Full

On your problem, did you check the support center for BF2? Maybe you can find an answer there without waiting for an email reply. Support BF2

Not sure if the link above is working for you, if not this one should do it. You just need to select PC > BF2... Support Home Page
