Rabid Turkey;4111760I actually tried that a couple of months ago - upgrading to a faster radeon card. The switch in platforms from NVIDIA to Radeon played havoc with my system and I couldn't get the kinks ironed out so I sent back the new card. After that I read somewhere that the NVIDIA 6800 series would be okay for BF2 and I got the idea my processor was the bottleneck, so I gave up on the videocard update idea. I honestly don't know what to think now.

what was wrong ? did you do a proper uninstall of the old drivers ? we can always try to build you a cheap as possible new system to play FH2 with

Update: I followed your advice and upgraded my videocard to a Radeon X1950GT 256MB. MyFPS average 30-50 which is only a tiny bit better, but one map yesterday it was running in the 20s. I was carefull to fully remove my old drivers - I uninstalled, then ran the NVIDIA "nasty file remover" which was able to remove all but 5 NVIDIA display driver files, and then I manually deleted all the keys under [HKEY_Local_Machine\system\currentcontrolset\control\video] in the registry. Then I installed the new driver (all of this was with the internet disconnected so the computer wouldn't automatically download a driver). Even with all this I get an error message when I first turn on my computer that a certain NVIDIA display file can't be found (dpll I think?). My specs now are: DFI Lanparty UT nForce 3 250gb mobo (socket 754) AMD Athlon 64 3200+ cpu 2GB GeilSkill value DDR RAM 500WThermaltake PurPower PSU Radeon Sapphire X1950GT 256MB videocard. My settings are as described in my first post with antialiasing off, dynamic light and shadows set on low. I have done numerous tweaks to my system with various tweakguides over time, most recently with the ATI Tweakguide last night. I also for kicks checked my taskmanager while I was in game, and my cpu was running 100% and my pagefiling was 1GB ram - I don't know if there is any significance to that (I have previously set my pagefiling to a static number, I don't remember what it was - but it was supposed to boost performance over dynamic pagefiling). Is this the level of performance I should be expecting with this machine setup? Is the cpu the bottleneck? Should I format my HD and reinstall everything and start from scratch??? Thanks for any help.
