I know there are several threads about this already, but almost every thread I read people got an error message saying something about "start the game from fh2.exe, not bf2.exe". or that BF2 plays perfectly but not fh2. my problem is that neither of the games are working, When I start them the screen goes black as it usually does when starting up the game. but after a few seconds it closes down to desktop. I've had this problem with BF2 before, but only occasionally, and then I just had to restart the computer or wait about ½ an hour and it would work again, but now neither of the games have worked for more than a week. and I know my computer can play the game since i played it on highest graphics and resolution without any lag at all. Please help me, my urge for playing FH2 grows larger every day.

Please help him soon! It's so sad seeing him trying live a normal life without this drug you have created... Maybe I should buy him WoW or something, you can't just skip FH2 for nothing, it's very unhealthful if you don't get rehabilitated.

Get this man 20 hits of CC, stat! Try reinstalling it in a different folder. Did you install it in C:/Program Files/EA Games/Battlefield 2/mods/? I had the same problem, so try reinstalling the whole game into C:/Program Files/EA Games/Battlefield 2/. If not take two aspirins and PM me in the morning.

Thanks for the help, will try that first thing in the morning! I think I installed it in /mods, well, I'm pretty sure I did. But, I have reinstalled it 2 times, at least these times I think i installed it in /mods, but when it was installed earlier, and I could play it (for 10 days) I think it was in /mods too. not sure though.

I tried it, it was installed in \Battlefield 2\ not \mods. but while reinstalled FH2 I thought I found the problem, (which turned up wasn't the problem, or I could not do anything about it) but when i press "uninstall FH2", it almosts directly says "FH2 was successfully uninstalled". but then i look in the Battlefield 2 folder and the FH2.exe is still there, and all the other FH2 properties in the \mods directory. (even though I did not install the game there). so after it says "FH2 was succesfully uninstalled" I can still double-click on the FH2 icon and the game starts up since it is linked to the .exe file. but the same problem remains when I do that. Since all propertiers (I think) of FH2 is still there, the FH2 folder from the start menu doesn't disappear, neither the icons on the desktop. and I can click "uninstall" unlimited times and it continues to say "FH2 was succesfully uninstalled". I manually removed the FH2.exe file and all the properties in \mods\fh2 and tried to install it again, but the same thing happens over again.

try uninstalling everything, and do a registry clean. If your uninstaller for BF2 doesn't fire up, you will be better off reinstalling your system entirely. that's what happened to me and after doing a fresh reinstall of xp, both bf2 and FH2 ran perfectly.

once programs start crashing or don't fire up, it's time to reinstall your windows. hope that helped.

The uninstaller for FH2 is broken. You will have to delete FH2 manually (the .exe in your BF2 folder and the FH2 mod in your BF2/mods/ folder). Then try to reinstall, if FH2 installed correctly you should see a FH2 folder next to a BF2 folder under "mods". Or try a complete reinstall as suggested above.

Thanks for the help, as I said I manually removed the FH2.exe and the FH2 folder under mods. and It is installed that way right now too. I will try a to fix it a bit more, at worst I will have to do as you said and reinstall the whole system (but will take some time before I do that I think, since I have much that I don't want to lose and have to burn do a disc or move to another computer) and I emailed EA, got an answer (their support isn't very good at all), and right now I'm following their instructions, it can't hurt right?

I meant completely removing FH2 + BF2 + other mods like Then making sure to install everything correctly (BF2 + patch then FH2, then running FH2.exe)

A system format (atleast that is what I think you are talking about) probably wouldn't help unless your compute is full of crap and can't be "trusted" anymore. Seemed to have fxed it for Pooky. Though it requires ime to backup aind reinstall on OS.

What did EA tech support say? I would guess "we don't support mods, if BF2 works then though cookie to you"?
