I have no problem with successfully operating "open/close stuff" (like windshields in Kuebelwagens, window covers in the Dorchester, etc.), except for the cupola hatches in armored vehicles. They just don't budge. It's especially annoying in the Sdkfz 222. Do they close automatically when in the "X" view, or am I missing something?

on most German tanks tank the copulas are open until someone enters the tank and then they close by them self until the tank is empty.

the sd-kfz 222 had manual working "cage" it opend and closed with vertical movement of the gun. however this made aiming and orientation very difficult although the "cage" was "see through". so it got removed and replaced by the very well working system we got right now.

That's just the thing - I often see occupied tanks with their cupolas open. Also, I've tested it myself on the local game (checking with free look), and the cupolas don't seem to close. What could cause this?

What do you mean by this current system? The SdKfz 222's apparently is open at all times.

why would u even want the german tanks to have closed cupolas? German tank commanders rarely, if ever, buttoned up, unless they were under direct infantry fire.... They sacrificed protection for better view, something that allied tankers rarely did, and is often blamed as part of the reason german tankers were able to operate better.

thing is even if we would have the cupola open you wont see the commander as the cupola position is a passenger position.

i believe it would be possible to make the tank driver into this position and maybe even let him open/close the cupola with "duck" key. however he would have to hold down the "duck" button all the time to stay inside at the same time he would have to drive the tank switch ammo and what else comes to your mind.

so imo the current system is ok this is not RO (sadly, i love the RO tank battle system, although i doubt it would fit well into FH2) where you can change tank commander views with mousewheel and he actually changes the position and stuff

Exactly. I'm not complaining against the current system, just thought it was weird.

Thanks for the replies.
