I regularly play on a well known, often full in the evenings - FH2 server.

Last night the squad I was in, over the duration of two maps, had a communal number of 11 CTDs between us.

My theory is that once the server is full and people browse the server in the FH2/BF2 server list - and keep hitting connect (or double clicking the server name) after a number of tries it lets them connect to the server but at the same time randomly kicks a couple of players. It's almost like a stealth force connect is in place.

Having been kicked I return quickly to the server list only to find the well known server at full capacity of 64 players - I'm then guilty myself of fast clicking until I join, only to find 2mins into the game someone else on the other team whining about CTDs.

Does this sound reasonable or preposterous? I've noticed people saying "other servers don't crash like this, nor does PR" Well, those other servers don't regularly run with 64 people on them and have lots of open slots.

Are you mixing being kicked and getting a crash-to-desktop?

I can confirm this, since I've been playing in a squad with von.small yesterday and today. Today only he and another squadmate had problems (OK, I had one crash), but yesterday was horrible - at one time the entire squad got a CTD. The game's really been acting up lately.

No sir, this is CTD, I get the regular "PB handshake" that's a separate issue, this is random crash to desktop.

I've checked the usual suspects, like updating my own display drivers and graphics card driver, plus deleted cache files but as this still happens and happens to others I'm at a loss...

Hmm I may have seen this happen too. Sometimes when I CTD and server was full it shows it full again after I look at server list. It may be just coincident but who knows.

The whole story sounds familiar to me. Game-Monitor and Game-Tracker grabbing data, server browsers requesting information, full server, latency peaks, BANG. Might be true.

Hmm, interesting concept. You may want to check audio drivers, too.
