hey everyone, very excited about the FH2 mod :) ( ive been checking the site about once a week, or more for the past,,, F H 1 mod :)

since i got Vista about a month ago, I recently installed BF2. Runs pretty good, i mean i dont have any problems with it. Then i try downloading POE:2 after the download, when i click on install, i cant... then i downloaded Project reality, i install it with no problems, but i just cant switch to the mod, and even if i join server... game crashes....

so will FH2 will have the same problem? i know game is not out yet, but did anyone tested the game on vista? it will really suck if i could not play it :(

FH2 works fine on both vista x64 and vista x86, you will need to lower your texture settings to medium even if your machine could handle highest with bf2 vanilla on vista. This seems to be a bug that effects most BF2 mods on Vista. If i understod pvt.Allen right increasing your video ram to 512 wont help. This is probably only fixable from Microsofts side.

But as long as you have medium texture settings and run as administrator everything works fine. I have played several testing sessions with both Vista x64 and x86.

If you also plan to map/mod FH2 Vista is not recomended since it has numerous issues with the bf2editor, debugger, dds plugins and 3ds max.

Well I can't answer the question of course since I'm still on good ol' faithfull XP Pro :D

But yeah this is quite a serious issue if other BF2 mods are already having problems with Vista. Now I personally believe that Microsoft is the one to fix this godawefull support they have for a lot of programs, but that task might be even to big for the mighty MS to handle in a ~5 month period.

It's also quite annoying to have to rely on MS and their patches that can make or break an application. You can test it all you want on Vista, but there will probably be a lot of different computer configurations (hardware based) out there that will make this task very demanding on the devs...

I for one hope MS will fix all of this BETA testing they seem to do with Vista. I mean this can't be the final product, can it? With this I guess Vista will start to run smooth in about a year perhaps 2 like XP after launch...

Your video RAM is what you have on your graphics card, usually 256mb. Forgotten Hope 2 is optimized for this, the problem is not the video RAM but a bug in windows vista. The number you said is your mainboard RAM. 2gb *should* be succifent if you can run bf2 good then FH2 would run good if you set up the graphics as i described, 32bit or 64bit vista doesnt matter it runs at the same speed. I have only tested FH2 on vista with 3 and 4gb RAM.

Go to properties tab and check compatibility mode in xp sp2,then when you do that run in administrator mode.biggrin.gif Just follow those steps and everything will be ok. After you click run in admin mode it may take a lil time for you to see the notification thing with vistas U.A.C. CRAP, then click that you started this action and that you trust the program, but thats all you have to do. Sometimes when you click on things to install them in vista it could take 10 mins for the pc to respond, uac sometimes has to catch up with everything else. try doing the same thing for the install icons and it will allow the pc to respond faster to the install icon. Ok now another thing, I formerly only had 1 gig of ram on my pc and couldnt even start bf2 or 2142. I did research and found that you need atleast 2 gigs to run it at all. You might think about getting 1 mor gig to run it flawlesly with out studder at the start of maps after they load. I know that you have 2 gigs but if it doesnt load fast on high after everything I sad to do, then I would suggest for you to invest in some more ram.(that is, if you can currently run it on high) I have everything on highest and running at 6xaa with no problems at all on mods or reg BF2. Hope that works for you. Let me know if it doesnt and I'll try to help you further.happy.gif
