http://www.thosebeyondtime.com/images/Garage1.jpg Crappy screenshot and no texture, but so far this is all I've been able to add to BF using 3D Studio Max. I'd be able to do much, much more than this, but I keep getting errors when trying to port my other models into BF. 3DSMax usually stops me halfway through the export process, and tells me that I have an error with a "get" function. It shows me where in the script the function is, but I can't make heads or tails of it. tmpMapFace = meshop.getMapFace obj 1 vertsUsedByList[ i ] I wish I knew what this was telling me, then I might be able to fix it. I don't know what it is I'm doing wrong. I can make four walls, but as soon as I try to add a floor or roof, or ramps, or anything, it seems like it craps out on me when I try to export. There don't seem to be any good tutorials on the subject, so I'm asking. Can anyone help me?
cool , looks good, i like the roof, what are your plans on using it for
It's just a general garage, but it's for the Stalingrad Tractor Works. If I could get them working, I'd have several more. And Englishboy, you skin, right? Could I perhaps team up with you to model, and then you skin stuff? I'm a terrible skinner.
thats sounds like a cool idea, id like to help you on that, one thing though..unwrapping the model for skinning, i have no clue how to do
Hey, I'm learning how to use 3dsMax too. I just finished this tutorial yesterday: http://mitglied.lycos.de/dionstut/
And here's the result:
I don't know about the error you're getting though, but maybe you should render your garage in Max. It's not a very clear picture you've got there...

hmm are all parts connected to eachother? do they form one big single object? if not that is the problem. Try to attach all parts together. Maybe this tutorial could be helpful to you: http://www.battlefield1942.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?threadid=4726&perpage=15&pagenumber=2 unfortunatly that forum is hacked so try the attachement below. this site (the forum is part of it is pretty useful too): http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~perfectionist/PSite/index.php
As far as I know, all of them are attached. But there are several ways they can be attached. I can do a Boolean and Union them together, I can Connect them, or I can transform them into Meshes and Attach them to one another. None of them seem to be working, which it what got me in such a confusion. I even tried subracting a "mold" of the object from a bigger object, and then using the mold to cut out a piece in the exact shape from a single object, but that didn't seem to work either. I hope my 3DSMax isn't bugged. The Garage I have up there has already been ported to BF, and that is a shot of the object appearing in Battlecraft. It's not a very complicated object, as that was intended mostly as a first and practice model for import. And Donitz, heh, I already have this saved to my computer, funnily enough. But thanks! Lightning, the Tutorial you gave me is in German, so I can't really understand it. Thanks anyway though.
http://3d.unseenstudios.com/images/farm.jpg here's a custom object that I'm working on for my next map. Pretty low polygon, but, hey, it's a work in progress. I've got it into my map and everything works just fine.
looks nice Nechre, its good to see some difference in house ands such for maps, o and Lightning thats look great, is it your first model?
Of course not, I've been modelling for a year and a half.:nodding:
