I plan on making a map or series based on 1941 Kiev.

Could anyone give me any tips, photos, information, documents, anything relating to the battles?

Ofcourse you can ask if anyone has any good materials on the battle or the area, but you as a mapper have to know what you want to do yourselve. So you can't just ask for any tips. People will surely try to help you if you'll decide what exactly you want to have.

Wasn' t Kiev taken so fast that they cought it with the urban trains still working and the citizens thought that the german troops were the Red Army marching to fight back? To be honest I can' t really remember if it was Kiev or another city in Ukraina but I am pretty sure this happened...

If you need very basic information, just go to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Kiev_%281941%29

Doing a small Google search, here is a site I found with alot of Russian maps from the Eastern Front. If you care to look, you'll find alot of maps from Kiev there: http://rkkaww2.armchairgeneral.com/maps/maps1941SW.htm

I'll keep an eye after more information, and check my books.
