You shouldnt make the destroyer a static object, as it will be too easy to figure out the location and then rape it via Pixelshooting. So, it sould either be way out at sea or be moveable.
Dieppe made Operation Overlord possible.
by failing? wtf
Yes it did fail. However, if they hadn't gone through it and made the mistakes they did and taken the caualties they did, then Operation Overlord would have made the same mistakes that were made at Dieppe and it would have been a complete failure, only on a much, much larger scale :)
Yeah, Dieppe was a total failure, as for winning land, that is. They used their new Churchill tanks, but they got stuck on the beach and all of them were wasted. The Germans thought they used the tanks because they thought the Churchills were outdated and therefore were used as "bait", or "scrapmetal". In fact, these tanks were the newest designs.. that's why the Germans didn't bother to investigate of it's design.
Wow Strider, you are turning out to be a pretty uninformed shmuck.
Look, you can't make an amphibious assault on a well defended coastline with 6100 people. Apparently, you have never heard of the idea of "practice runs" or "probing attacks" or really much to do with military planning for major operations. Dieppe was not intended to be the bridgehead into France. If that were the case they would have had Army Groups waiting off shore to go in as soon as the beach was secured. Let alone airborne assaults beforehand, heavy fire and air support, etc, etc, etc. Crack a book sometime, and clean that toejam out of your mouth.
Anyways back on-topic I think that map is looking amazing. And for a first time I am thinking god damn that's hot!
