They're here, of the 4 maps which I submitted 1 made it and 3 didn't... sniff sniff :( Does that mean they were bad? maybe accepting several maps from 1 author wouldn't have looked good since there were on 22 maps to begin with.

El Guettar: This map follows the US versus Germany in Tunisia following the fiasco at Kasserine Pass. 5 control points, some close some spread out. Special custom skins which relate to units in the battle. P-38s, P-40 and the artillery spotter for allied air against the usual Axis suspects 109, stuka and 110.

Kanev: Anyone remember Korsun? In that map the city was Kanev. This is a nicely revised edition of that classic fan favorite which I made 1 year ago (that's sad where has the time gone from .5 to .66?). 2 new bridges to better access the island town, better array of Soviet armor, new statics, another defensive Pak 40 and a winter skinned schwimmwagen. 4 control points like the original.

Crimea: The peninsula near the black sea which saw 3 years of combat. The Russians have a foot hold in the south east thanks to sea based resupply and the Germans control the north, now the battle is for the 4 control points in between. Mountains, forests, farms, ruined cities and defensive lines accent this map. A medium sized map so for once you have a chance to fly Russian aircraft without automatically taking off into a cliff, fence or tree.

These maps promise not to be lag-tastic!

Here are 3 links I'll post more as they become available.

any plans to more FH maps?

every time I think I'm finished with Bf1942 or FH I some how get pulled back in. I've never played 1 game consistantly for such a long time (2+ years). About the time I'm ready to move on I get frustrated at "not" seeing the maps I always dreamed about and then decide to make them. My tastes or interests have never been all in 1 place, that's why I bounce from Africa to Europe to Asia to the Pacific. Its funny I make the maps but then rarely play anyway.

Here's what I'm working on: Malta. This will be an air & sea superiority map kind of like my "skies over Ebon". Brits: Hurricanes, Spitfires, Swordfish, destroyer and liberty ships. Germans: 109s, 110s, AR 196, E boats & U boats. The capture points will be in the sea and players will battle to capture & defend the air space and water ways. Back on the island of Malta the brits have a vast anti air defense of barrage balloons and anti-air gun batteries. I'm reskinning the "berlinwall" (if you mappers know what I'm talking about) to be the fortress walls which lie on the Maltese coast.

What I would love to see :D : Gothic line: featuring Brits versus Germans in an Italian winter. How many maps have the Brits or Canadians in the winter? None...

Cyrenaica: ANZAC vs. Italians. Can't wait for FH to just go all out and rip off RtR of everything useful. After all they did it with the Flettner, pak 40 and now the French voices why stop there?

Rangoon: ANZAC vs. Japanese. It would be so cool if FH modeled an owen smg and Aussie jungle hat. Wish I had those for Burma.

Retaking of Manilla: Japs hold the city, harbor and outlying jungle. US ships pound the port & the imfamous Jap concrete battleship. Meanwhile US airbourne land to the north of the city as an amphibious landing takes place at the harbor.

Cassino: Similiar but not quite as annoying as the RtR version. The focus is surrounding foot hills and the gimmick is instead of having the normal white man as the US soldier use Japanese heads to represent the 442 infantry which was made up of Japanese americans.

I love the less romantisized battles and I like to include all the combatants from everywhere possible, after all it was WORLD war 2.

FH never ripped anything from a RTR or any other game except french voices (which they had permission for)

The Pak 40 is in Bf1942 originally so FH can use it The flettner is an FH model Road to romes vehicles and guns stink, wait for much better FH versions to arrive in patches to come.

FH never ripped anything from a RTR or any other game except french voices (which they had permission for

Let's review the facts.

1. The pak 40s existed only in RtR & SW until the Liberation of Caen free map update brought them into BF. Meanwhile though they were featured in FH maps prior to Liberation of Caen, meaning they had to be embedded in the maps since they were not part of vanilla BF yet.

2. the flettner is/was a SW model, please refer to the photos below if there is any arguement.

3. So FH had permission to use the french voices, excellent. I'm glad to see they went through all the trouble.

4. Desert Rose features Italian building statics from RtR.

5. Do you remember the big stink over the planes sounds? Some might remember the whole BG42 versus FH plane sound scandal.

I'm as big of a sneak as they come and will certainly use any means to get a job done. I think they should petition to use more of the models though. They wouldn't be giving away the EA store by inserted a model here or there or an army either.

The italian tank, lee, mosquito and tank hunting 1/2 track would be welcome additions as would the motorcycles from SW of course with proper MGs.

An interesting angle to think about is the rumor that 80% of RtR already laid locked in BF1942. I heard originally RtR was supposed to be part of BF1942 but due to deadlines and greed it was turned into an expansion. So much of equipment which made its debut in RtR was already there all along.

Now if that is true and mods & mappers have the ability to use anything within BF1942 for their maps and mods then wouldn't those initially unused models from RtR also be available? After all they were in vanilla BF1942 even though we never saw them. Something to think about.

Think of it like this, some one gives you a box of toys and says "you can play with anything inside the box". After a while of playing you find a false bottom with even more toys underneath. Those toys are inside the box, so should they be off limits?
