I was wondering how much work, what has to be done, etc. to convert a army to the other side. (i.e change it from axis to allied)

how do you mean?

To swap bases? The mapper would have to re-locate edit the vehicle spawns and edit the flags. This can all be done with notepad though. That shouldn't take more then 30 minutes (or less).

or, if he means that soviet should be axis, in stead of allies in the finland campaign (or wherever) it's as simple as one-two-three, either in ed42 or BC. there's a very recent thread about it in the mapping forum.

one can chose whichever country one wants as which side one wants - once i made a map with US against US, for instance.

And edit every kit for the specific country, and create a new soldier template, for ships you need a whole new version, ....

where? when?

there's no problems swapping sides in a map? same team, same units, nothing changed, except color on minimap...? and for ships - there's nothing stopping you from selecting germany as the "owner" of Prince of Wales....?

You might very well think that

Although I thought it odd to see the 'Red' Army fighting in Blue against the Finns (who have blue in their flag!) in Red, it is still correct. Although Finland was never an official Axis power, its pact with Germany to fight the Soviet Union justifies their Axis team positioning.

Tell me about it. I'm always shooting teammates when playing Karelia/FinnWars. The colors are very confusing.

oh ok this is very good news then. Sorry I dont not regularly check the mapping forum so i did not see it! Well this is very good news. THey key armies I was thinking of was for these ones Vichy French Forces Free Italian Forces Russia versus Poland (early war) Finland vs Germany There was also a bunch of american-japanese solider would fought in ww2 who were very highly decorsted. I map with them would be interesting though this might not need a allied japanese, probaly just changing out player model. THis us vs us maps sounds pretty funny though, you have a link to dl it maybe to check it out?

i'm sorry, it never made it that far. it was in the very start of experimenting with BC, and it never actually got any quality worthy of inviting people i don't know in. but maybe i'll make a map like that one day, trying to put more effort into the story and the actual map.
