I cant pack any of my maps and I dont know what to do, Im about to pull my hair out.

I have read the tutorial and followed the directions and its still not working.

At first I thought my map was bad so to test it I made a new basic map to see if it unpacked and packed OK and if it did that means the map is bad

1) Made a map in bc 2.1 and called it fh test level 1

2)Started map in bf and it runs fine. Spawned, ran around , and switched sides, ran around as German and no problem.

3)Used Win RFA to unpack map to "My Documents" and everything seems to be in order. I cant find any problems or anything missing.

4) Packed map following directions. "After you edit the extracted rfa file you will have to pack it again: - choose “pack” à “directory” - Your source directory will be C:\Your_rfa_directory_name. So if you extracted Breakthrough-1944 you will have to select C:\ bf1942. The “Base path” will now automatically change to “bf1942”. - hit “pack”

5) BF1942 wont even start, BC 2.1 says "This level is missing key files need to successfully load."

6)I try to use Col Crutchens RFA explorer to open and explore the RFA and the first file I click on I get "range check error" any thing I click on after that I get " Cannot open... and it gives the apth to the file.

What am I doing wrong here?

Umm, you can't have the 1 at the end of the level name, it makes it a patch file.

I made a new test map with a different name and tried it again.

Made no difference, exact same thing happens.

extract it to your desktop, you will see a folder called "bf1942". make your changes and when you go to pack it, the base directory will be the bf1942 folder on your desktop.

I have a similar problem, let me see if I have this right: The directory structure should be bf1942/levels/map_name We pack from the bf1942 folder, base path is bf1942?

what give you in, if you try to pack your map (it seems that you use MakeRFA)?

Your number 4 doesn´t give me a good overview.

Use MakeRFA, it works perfectly, theres a tutorial for the procedure in the mappers topic. Also, extract your maps to your c:/, not My documents or anything, because the URL is different.

Using make.rfa I get the sexact same errors and exact same error when I try to start the map in BC 2.1

BUT

I dont get an error when using rfa explorer so pgrogress has been made. At this point it seems it might be easier to find the floating texture problem in BC.
