Sorry if somebody has brought this up before, but are there plans for making a map about the Australians and Japanese fighting at the kokoda trail? I think the Japs should spawn near the sea and the aussies at a defensive postion in front of them. There should be about 4 flags for the aussies but they can only spawn at the 1. if this is captured, they can spawn at the 2, then 3 and so on. This would be like they are constantly being pushed back. At point 4 they should be able to hold the japs back. This map would feature a lot of foliage, trenches, and a river or two to cross. off course the Owen machine carbine for the aussies would be nice (hint)owengun2.jpg

As long as I know, there aren't any plans for making map about this, atough it would be good one. As for the Australians spawning, there is no need for blocking other spawn points (I don't even know if it's possible), players won't haing around other control points, while there is one that need to be defended. Also I would suggest to use more photos for creating the map than imagination, let's keep the realism!

I didn't use my imagination, I read about this battle in a book about the pacific war just 5 minutes earlier! It said they where pushed back like 5 miles per day. Blocking the other points isn't a great idea, ur right there.

Sorry, I meant something other about the imagination. I suggested to recreate the exact lay of the land and objects on it, just to not place any things that weren't there. It was just a suggestion, I didn't meant that you wan't it to be done in unrealistic way. Anyway it can be an interesting map, maybe someone will take this idea into his project, well not me because I'm curently working on one map.

Great idea man! Wonder if they will be any map like this. Either done by the devs or as a custom map. Either way I have a feeling it's going to be made. Milne Bay is another battle that should be taken into consideration. Aussies vs. Japs there too. And then I want Cape Matapan with the Australian and British nave vs. the Italian navy.

pvt.Allen: What is this nice map your talking about? :naughty:

My map is based on events from the 10 to 11 of June 1944 near the town of Carentan in Normandy. Forces from the 3rd batalion, 502nd PIR, 101'st airborne division had to battle Fallschirmjagers on the cosway to Carentan. The problem was that the road was sorrounded by huge marshes and flooded fields so the only way was the cosway it self. Next commander of the 3rd batalion, lt. col. Robert Cole lead remainings of his unit thrugh opened field to assult the Ingouf farm right to the cosway. My main objective in creating this map is to make it as realistic and accurate to the photos as possible in my conditions (lack of photos). To see some screens (from very early stages of the map!) and pphotos, maps etc., click here: 334. In the up comming week I'll post some new screens in Map show-off -> map updates thread.;)

The original idea have comed from there, but it's much bigger and realistic. Altough yes, I like the game very much, the map isn't based on BIA level but on aerial photos from around 1944. Now I'm working on better textures.

Did the Aussies use Australian weapons like Austen and Owen or did they use normal British equiptment?
