Some mappers might have the skill to make good maps, but they're lacking good ideas. Or someone might have loads of good ideas, but doesn't know how to make maps. Well this thread is made to put those people together and deliver some good maps.

When you've got an idea for a good map, don't just post the name of the battle here. Try posting some stuff that might help mappers, like links to sites about that battle or some pictures. Just add all the information you can find and perhaps you could draw a little map of how you would set up the map. Anything is welcome.

Alright, with that set, bring on the ideas!

P.S. Don't make threads with map ideas or suggestions, that's what this thread is for.

i know someone suggested awhile ago but i think someone should make a Sevastopal map, i mean editing the packs for the soviet marines would take a little time but it would be worth it, some nice custom sailor uniforms would add a nice atmosphere, id be willing to help someone with the skins, but im tied up with my minimod at the moment

I'm currently working on Remagen, that Battle of Ludendorff Bridge. Ludendorff Bridge was the last intact crossing of the Rhine when the Americans reached it on March 7, 1945. The Germans had to evacuate their forces across the bridge and then demolish it to prevent the Americans from following. The Germans tried to detonate the bridge, but failed, and a team of Americans were sent across to secure the bridge, and prevent it from being totally destroyed. Hitler himself ordered the destruction of the bridge via V2 rocket, but that failed as well. Eventually, through no direct effort of the Germans, the bridge collapsed into the Rhine. That said... I have been working on this map for a bit, focusing on Tank combat for the most part, and trying to recreate some of the terrain as best I could using aerial photos. It's a German Defense map, similar to Bulge but with the places flip-flopped. The Germans hold all territory but for the American's uncappable encampment in the southeast of the map. The Germans hold a couple of outposts on the South side of the Rhine, but those should easily be overwhelmed by American tanks. The real fun (or at least, I would hope) comes when the Germans are forced back to the bridge. Since I am not a modeller, I had to use the existing giant bridge as seen in Arnheim and Market Garden, but it works just as well. The bridge itself is divided into three cappable points. The south shore, the bridge itself, and the north shore, where the German main force is stationed. The south shore is the closest spawn the Americans will get unless they can make it across the bridge and take the German main base. The bridge itself, although cappable, is not a spawn point, but controll of it will cause ticket bleed for the opposing team. The challenge in this case is for the Americans to get their tanks across the bridge in order to displace the Germans, who are well fortified and well equiped. Also... Bastogne. During the Battle of the Bulge, the 101st Airborne held off the better equipped German army with what meager supplies they had, until relief efforts could resupply and re-inforce the defenses. The Germans completely encircled the town, but the 101st never gave in. Thick woods, snow, and long winding paths through the forest, all intersecting at the town of Bastogne, are what I envision for this map. Tanks will be forced to stick to the roads, because the forest off-road terrain will quickly get them stuck. And oh, there will be lots of tanks. The Germans will be rather spoiled in this regard, getting plenty of the armors we all love. The Americans, on the other hand, won't get too much, maybe two Shermans and a Jackson at the most, with which they will have to make do. The rest of the time they will have to rely on a few well placed Howitzers, and crafty AT and Engineers. I do not know whether to make this a tank-only map, or include the air support that the town of Bastogne recieved. Any comments? Ideas?

I'm also in the process of doing a Foy-Bastogne map, but it's slow going because I can only do it in my free time, which is not much. Mine differs in the fact that the Germans start in Foy, and there is a the main road that leads back to Bastogne. I'm also including Halt Station as well with the rail line that leads in. Then, in between both roads is thick forest with the US having some sort of MLR. It's still in its beginning phases but I've got some good ideas for it that I want to include. -Bagginses

Anyone thought of making a map thats sort of like Coral Sea but better??? Like where theres 2 carriers and both teams only get fighters (no fighter bombers). People will dogfight to win... Or a map like Pearl Harbor, where theres a ring of american fleet and 2 japanese carriers with Zeros.. Then on one of the islands, you have an airfield with corsairs... Kina like the movie "Pearl Harbor". I would love to see one of these maps being made for FH. Thx

@Hail of Nails:

Your Bastogne Map sounds really good. However dont forget that dense forrests kill FPS in BF, so be carefull with the vegitation. Besides that, I wouldn´t add SO much armour. After all the 101st were cut off from supply routs, and I think they didn´t have very much armour to their disposal. And regarding the german armour, dont exagurate. The Allies should only have maybe a Sherman or two, but otherwise need to rely on PAKs and ATs to keep the armour in bay. Just bare that in mind while balancing the map, because especially Tigers and King Tigers are hard to stop as Infantrie...

And no, you should not add airsupport. After all that was part of the drama about the Battle of the Buldge. The Airforce coudn´t react to the german offensive, because the weather was so bad. After the weather lighted up, the Airforce came in and owned the german armour so they were forced to retreat...

Another thing, try to base the map on Band of Brothers. Most people like playing battles that are based on series and movies they know. Also incluse lots of trenches and foxholes in the forrests before Bastogne aswell as plenty of artillery for the germans.

I´m surprised noone has brought it up here yet, since it seem to be the most popular scenario after Omaha Beach.

The Night Landing of the Paratroopers on D-Day.

Obviusly it would have to be a night map. Its buildup should be similar to Kreta, just with 4 C-47s beeing mobile Spawnpoints. That should be enough room, even for 32 players on the team.

I was planning to make the map myself, but I just dont have the patience and skill for stuff like that. But the concept I had in mind looked something like this:
