Hi, I'm very very new to mapping, so I have a question...:) Is it possible to change the weapons of the soldiers?? Cause i made a small dessert map with only airplanes, and I just wanna have parachutes/pilots in this map! I use Battlecraft (with FH mapping tool kit ofcourse;)) Thx in advance

You can't set class kit setup nor in Battlecraft 1942 or ed42 so map editor has nothign to do in this case. You have to unpack your map, open Init.con (using notepad), there you will find class setup for both teams, in the second 'set' of code lines. Then you might want to unpack map like Bombing the Reich from where you'll copy kits' names or you can unpack the objects.rfa FH archive. There in Obejcts\Items\ you'll find folders with certain nations kits. In specific folders there are kit .con files, first line contains name wich you can use in your map's Init.con. It is important to keep in mind that there are five slots for classes 0-4, kits with label 1 can be used in class 0, 2 in 1 and so on.

K, thx very much! I've got another problem, it seems that some models are missing:confused: for instance, the C-47 and all the hedgerows and some more... Does anyone know where i can get these models?? I see the names standing in the list but no model attached to it?!:(

They are there, it might be problem with .lst file or just simple fact that Battlecraft isn't a good program. I suggest getting Editor42: http://editor42.dimension3.org/. It is alot better than Battlecraft and more useful for advanced map developement. Befroe asking any specific questions about it, please look at other threads posted in the last week, many of these cover this topic.

Alright I've looked at all the threads about ed42 and installed it (normally) properly.. I've put the objects, standardmesh and textures of both bf42 and FH in the correct folder. But I have just one problem --> I wanted to "edit" a map that I made in bc with ed42. I've unpacked the .rfa file (from the map) and I put it in the levels folder (...bf1942/levels/mymapname/). Now, I've changed the base directery to the map where everything is in (obj, standardmesh, textures and levels*), I press "file-open" (in ed42) and I wanna open my map now. I see the map where everything is in*(?), and I doubleclick it. Then there occures an error with just the phrase "Could not load the level..", and I didn't realy sellected a level, just the mapname where everything is in. Am I doing something terribly wrong?! Wrong directory or something?? I've doublechecked the installation, and did it step by step the same way as it was described:deal: I would really appreciate if someone could lend me a hand to get ed42 to work.. PS. Does anyone know where I can find a good tutorial for making maps with ed42??

Can you explain exactly what you mean here? Have you changed Ed42's base directory to something else than bfdev folder? If yes this might very likely be the case.

When you had your initial setup, before you changed anything, did you ever run ed42? If so, did it load supremely fast, or did it take a heck of a time to get it ready... did you place any objects successfully, or did they just appear as boxes? In other words, did you have your base directory right at first? because once you have it right and can place objects, etc., you never have to change anything in the ed42 init file... in fact, if you make a shortcut on your desktop for ed42.exe, you never even have to open your ed42 folder again. Allen is right, if you changed your base path to the folder where your map is, you did it wrong. to open your map, unpack your map like you did, and run ed42 normally. Once it loads, click on the folder icon on the top or do file-open, and select your map.

Well, I have my map with ed42.exe in it (i just called it C:/ed42) than i have made another map (C:/ed42bfdev), in that map I've placed the object, standardmesh, texture and bf1942/levels map (all unpacked), like it was described. Now I've ran ed42 and first it asks me to change the directories, i change 'base directory' to 'C:/ed42bfdev' and for all the other directories I've just let it be '$basePath' (like it was described). I've never really worked with ed42, just tried some things out, and the only real thing i can work with is the 'heigtmap mode' and the 'texture mode' and the 'material mode'. 1st problem: in the 'object mode' I don't know where I can get the objects. there is a list when i click 'create static object' but there are no templates. Normal?? 2nd problem: If I want to open my map, I click file-open. Then there's a list (levels) with just 'ed42bfdev' (my basedirectory). Normal?? (I've already unpacked my map rfa file and placed it in c:/ed42bfdev/bf1942/levels/(mymapname) I hope this all makes sense:uhm:

I'm not sure what you mean by having maps in these two locations. All you should do after installing Ed42 to some directory is create folder anmed 'bfdev', place it for example in Ed42 main folder, unpack .rfa archives and maps to the bfdev folder and that's it. As for object placement, when you're in object mode and select option to choose static from a list, you should deselect option on the bottom wich says somethign like 'show objects from list only' or something like this.

yeah, I think you are saying "Map" when I think you mean "folder"

and if you have no objects in the list when you go to place objects, then you have the directory wrong, so ed can't see your meshes or object files. I suggest that you maybe go over it again and double check your process... and for simplicity's sake, I just made my working folder "c:\bfdev" I have all my files unpacked in there.
