If you leave cockpit sights on, you can turn the pilots head by holding left shift and moving the mouse. When you do this you lose control of your plane. You can only fire and accelerate, turning and all the rest of the controls are blocked. Is there a way to avoid this? I know I can increase the pilots view angle by modifying the code, but I don't know if it is possible to actually have control of your plane while turning the pilot's head. All of this if of course assuming external views are locked.

Well for BF2 there is a program called Joy2Key which allows you to look around with the hat stick on your joystick. I'm not sure if it impedes control; I don't think it does. It might also work for BF42, I'm not sure. I've only heard of it when mentioned on BF2 forums.

Bf has a limited amount of commands which can be input by the user. If you use joytokey you're still stuck with pushing a button to use mouselook.

While in this state you have no control over your aircraft, but you can look arround using mouse or your hatswitch (which has been set to mouselooks: up, down, left right)

Kind of the same thing, but now you can use keys on you're joystick instead of the mouse...

follow this thread to us 2 instances of Joy2key to eliminate the need to press shift/control to look around. Just go straight to your hat, but you still lose control of the aircraft...
