ive decided to make a Normandy map, you know with the C47s, but i have some questions: 1. how do I make the C47s spawn in the air, not move, and stay there until someone starts flying? 2. how do I get the vehicles to show up? several of the vehicles i need (Flak 88s, vierling) does not show up in BC nor in game. how do I fix this? 3. what program can I use to make custom player skins and where can i find a tutorial for skinning people? 4. if theres a website that has custom skins downloads, preferably 101st skins, what is it? 5. how do I import bombing the riechs skybox into my map? 6. along the lines of 5: what light setting would work for a night map? 7. is there a way to make tracers brighter? 8. how do i make realistic looking farms? 9. how much foilage will a medium BF map handle? i know it seems like a lot, but help would be much appreciated

i also need to know some stuff (thought id post here instead of making new thread) 1) i d/led the latest battlecraft the two patches from the "Mapping Tools" sticky thread ( http://www.gamingforums.com/showthread.php?t=137184 ). but my question is how do i install the last patch thing?its just a notepad? 2) im making an early war city map on the western front. i want to have the british against the germans, but i cant choose the teams. its just USA vs germany. 3) some of the vehicles are missing, where did they go and where can i get them back from? 4) how do i change the kits that can be spawned with? 5) how do u delete unwanted map space?i selected the smallest map size and its massive! i dont need or want to do anything more complicated like skins etc, this is my 1st map thanx

For spawning c47's refer to the Spawnrotators in the objects\buildings\common folder.for your vehicles to show up, I have no Idea, it sounds like you are both using BC so use a different program for object placement. It probably has something to do with that. the way that I do skins is I use photoshop you need the dds plugin that you can get with the unofficial SDK. and its not too hard so I dont think that you need a tutorial, and if you do need one, I don't have one anyway, so phhhht! I also think that in FH there are already 101st skins so when you can just look for them (think "amerov\amerun"). the skybox problem is in your file's init\skyandsun.con just look at the one from bombing the Reich and copy and paste it over yours. as far as the fog colors, look at the first part of bombing the reich's main init.con: ShaderManager.setTextureParam envmap bf1942\levels\Bombing_the_Reich-1943\Textures\ENVMAP_G_.rcm renderer.vertexFogEnable 1 [color=red]renderer.fogColorVec 0.2157/0.2667/0.2706[/color] [color=red]renderer.globalLodPercent 1[/color] [color=red]renderer.globalAmbientColor .1/.1/.12[/color] [color=red]renderer.ambientColor .12/.12/.12[/color] [color=red]renderer.diffuseColor .3/.28/.25[/color] [color=red]renderer.specularColor .3/.3/.3[/color] [color=red]renderer.animatedMeshAmbientColor 0.2[/color] [color=black]the red lines of code are what I tend to convert to make my map match the skybox. also you might want to adjust your shadow color:[/color] shadow.shadowColor 0.5 as far as realistic looking farms, just scan the web and find pictures of farms. and be responsible with your trees and shrubs! dont just throw them around, would you just slop a fence, wall or a village any old place carelessly? place as many of them as you need and then if you are happy with your map's performance while testing, there you go... you can certainly place quite alot of vegetation if you do it wisely. ;) OK now on to you... I already said that bc is not the ideal choice for mapping if these problems are so "in your face" already. To change the teams, you simply (read Donits' @all Mappers thread for one thing) go into your maps main init.con and look for the lines: [color=red]game.setTeamSkin 1 GermanSoldier[/color] game.setKit 1 0 1German_CloseQuartersMp40 game.setKit 1 1 2German_Assaultk98 game.setKit 1 2 3German_ATPanzerfaust100 game.setKit 1 3 4German_OfficerMp40 game.setKit 1 4 5German_SapperK98 [color=red]game.setTeamSkin 2 BritishSoldier[/color] game.setKit 2 0 1GB_CloseQuartersStenMk5 game.setKit 2 1 2GB_AssaultNo4 game.setKit 2 2 3GB_ATPiat game.setKit 2 3 4GB_SupportBren game.setKit 2 4 GB_SpecOpsStenMk5 see where it says what skin goes on what team? you can really learn alot by looking through the map files that you already have. This brings us to the problem that you're having with [color=black]the[/color] kits. You see where It says "game.setKit bla bla bla"? this is exactly where you can change your men's kits. look at different loadouts that work well in other maps and then [color=red]steal[/color] them from that maps init and place them in your's. deleting map size is something that I've never done, but to me, 1024x1024 is pretty small. maybe its just me. an alternative might be to either use the extra space for something, or just make it out of bounds and don't worry about it. I belive you can even reduce the size of your minimap... check the thread about that in this forum.

[/quote] seems like a problem with the BC-lists. i had the same thing myself. this is however not an issue with editor42, and i strongly encourage you to start using it this weekend!

i don't know much about this, but in the rfa's you unpack when you're installing and setting up editor42, you'll find the player skins. just open one of them in photoshop with a dds-plugin. Ramelle-Neuville had custom skins, so you should look at that map to see how it is done.

(all .con-files are in unpacked rfa's). look in you map-folder: .../mapname/Init/SkyandSun.con

you'll find something like this: GeometryTemplate.create StandardMesh SkyBox GeometryTemplate.file Sky_Bulge_m1

no idea what so ever :lol: . just unpack Operation Blacknight and Bombing the Reich and look at their Skyandsun.con-file.

if you want to look like a farmer, act like a farmer, think like a farmer and smell like a farmer - you have to *become* a farmer. :P Just look at photos, and try to think what they would need for the kind of fields you're giving them. for instance if they're supposed to have green fields for the cows, then the cows has to be somewhere, right? also work with the ground texture. editor-42 can make some nice lined fields.

the .cfg and .lst-file? just place them in the base-directory for BC IIRC.

can't choose? can you find the option, but it's locked? don't remember where it is in BC, but in the unpacked rfa i think you can find it in the main Init.con (don't have time to find it properly)

faulty list, i think, same as one of ryans questions. editor42 doesn't have this problem.

now this one i'm pretty sure about, because i just saw it. it's the init.con in your maps base-directory (..../mapname/init.con)

Hehe no idea, do a google for "china.burma natura, plants, ..." and look which bf vegatation looks alike? You should be fine using some of the jugnle and pacific vegatations i guess... Don't make it look like a jungle though :p .

I would carefully tiptoe over to the EoD team and ask very nicely for their permission to use their trees, as they made the best trees for SE asia in bf1942 mods.

thx for the help, i did a search and found that pine is the best suited STOCK tree, but yea i might ask the EOD team for trees.
