I didn't make it!
So, this is an idea I've been kicking around for a while.
First of all let me say this is just a "sheez this would be cool" thread, not the launching of a project.
We have a plethora of WW2 mods for Bf1942, most of which are no longer being updated. Eventually, none of them will be updated. Each of these mods has cool features which aren't found in the other mods.
These mods are: Forgotten Hope Battlegroup 42 Experience WWII Merciless mod Forgotten Hope Secret Weapons Forgotten Hope Extended Operation Anubis FinnWars Norwegian Resistance Road to Rome (expansion pack) Secret Weapons of WWII (expansion pack) Steel Cross The Sharpest Point Rising Sun Forgotten Honor AIE42
Like I said, all of these mods have stuff that's not in the other mods. What if we could take all the best parts of these mods, and put them together into one uber-mod? For example, we could take the maps from XWWII BG42 with FH vehicles and FHE ironsights and Merciless sounds, AIE42 or Steel Cross AI and extra vehicles and weapons from BG42 and XWWII that FH doesn't have, or that are better than the FH versions.
We could also make more maps of battles not covered in the above mods. This mod could cover all the major battles of the entire WW2 conflict.
People might play this long after they stop playing FH and any of the other mods.
So, what do you guys think?

Yeah that would be nice but the hard part is to see if any of these dev blokes are still avaible and if permission could be obtained. Also it would require a quite dedicated dev team, and not to be a pessimist but BF1942 modding isnt the that hot any more. Hey even BF2 modding have probably seen its "best" days (either its dice fault or the ungrateful stats loving community).
Talking strictly from a "developers" point of view, this would be really cool, you forgot Battlefield 1918 though.. that is an uber-mod in it self, very similar to FH when it comes to map-design and static objects modelling. WWI + WWII in one mod... Thing is, you would need to decide which type of damage system you want; the vanilla bf42 / BG42 or the FH one... either way, you'd have a few hundreds, if not thousands models and objects to recode, you would need to change the material on for example XWWII and BG42 tanks (the material on the standardmesh as well as the object) or an FH tank cant kill it, etc etc...
Estimated time to make this mod would be something like 1 year for 3-4 guys spending ~40 hours a week, after that around 3-6 months of testing would follow, if you picked the 100 greatest maps.. for example you'd make a map with every single vehicle, kit and weapon from every single mod.. then test them against each-other and then fine-balance their armor, hitpoints, material, speed etc.
It sure would be a kickass mod though..
Wait! FHE has iron [EMAIL="sights?#@$"]sights?#@$[/EMAIL] i didnt know that any mod for bf42 had that. Thats kool. I might just give FHE a go then. The sole reason that I dont play 42 is becuase of no iron sights. After playing bf2 for so long I have been spoiled on them, any more info of this mod or where I could dl it? Does it have a steady ammount of servers and players?
Could someone post a pic of those ironsights - I kinda hated XWWII's flat iron sights versus the only sights FH had - MGs... Which type does FHE use?
I think they have 1P models, not sure though... a bit late to start building a mod using ironsights in FH1 now though, even with permission from FHE, it would take too long to add them for all the weapons in FH1...

Individual AT weapons have ironsights since the 0.7
And of course the AFV guns have the gunsight picture - or is that the periscope?
