...because they're having the worst snowstorms and cold in 50 years: China Snowstorms. This story mentions that 250,000 people are trapped in one subway station. Can you imagine what that must be like?

To the thread? Nah. Follow him - everywhere he goes to talk about how we're destroying the climate and are heating up the earth just like the dinosaurs and Neanderthals did, he brings with him a record cold system blizzards, ice storms, etc..

Extreme weather conditions, both hot and cold, are considered a side-effect of global warming. Still, the planet is almost 5 billion years old, so its weather patterns and development (ie. ice ages) are still not well known. The planet might just be naturally changing albeit we are speeding up the change with our pollution.

In the past 100 years, the Times has had 9 different covers declaring global warming, cooling, warming, cooling, warming, cooling, warming, cooling, and now warming again. In 15 years, there will be another cooling cover, just like there was in the late 70s.

Climates change, people who think that the earth is a stable, non-changing environment needs to wake up. Its already been proven that the earth was in a mini ice age until the late 1800s. The little 1 degree rise seen from 1990-1998 means nothing, and in fact, since 1998, the earth is now cooler then it was in 1990, albeit it by a fraction of a degree.

Its people like Al Gore who spread this repeated lie that we are going to destroy our planet. Why do they do it? Simple.

Money. These people get HUGE amounts of money for giving out absolute worst case scenarios. UCLA's meteorological department was trapped in that little lie a couple years back. Also, the guy who wrote the coding for calculating global warming for Al Gore released his code, which upon double checking by outside sources, was found to be riddled with faults and errors, then when changed, showed that global warming was essentially bumpkis.

Also, as more and more meteorologists come out against the theory of global warming, more and more are finding themselves blackmailed by political parties, interest groups, companies, and universities that they work for to keep quiet. Quite seriously, some have been threatened with loss of job for being a skeptic.

So why is global warming so popular? Medium. The internet has provided a medium through which information, including misinformation, can spread incredibly quickly. Soon, people across the globe suddenly think that they are experts on the topic because they have read an article, or watching a movie by the Goreacle.

So duly, misinformation spreads. And although I can't remember who said it, I believe it might have been Churchill, but "A lie travels around the world 8 times before the truth can catch up to it." Essentially, more people believe that global warming is some climate change brought on by human error then those who actually study the facts. Hearsay is an enemy of fact.

So where does it end?

Well, the 1970s hysteria reached its peak in the transition to the new decade, but as the predicted events failed to occur, it lost steam. I feel that 2006 was the real transition period. Katrina had happened, and it seemed like the world was going to be swept away by global warming. Then the last thing they, and Al Gore, could have predicted occurred.

Nothing happened.

And since then, we have seen a major down slide in the climate change controversy. More real meteorologists have come out against global warming, and more proof is putting the culprit of any warmth of the earth in the hands of the Sun cycle, a 22 period when sunspots grow and shrink on the Sun, causing the sun to let out more or less heat. This has caused measurable temperature rises (on the scale of fractions of a degree, but so is this "global warming") on Mars.

It is my earnest belief that within this decade, we will see the global warming controversy finally lay to rest. But get ready folks, because in about another decade, global cooling will be back to kill us all!

Well, even if the global warming threat is overblown, we still are screwing up the world with our pollution. Take China for instance, it has some of the most lax environmental laws in the world and because of that their ecosystems are shot to shit. Plus, all those species who have been rendered extinct due to our 'progress'. There are cleaner, and safer ways to carry out progress in this world, but like was mentioned earlier, everyone is out to make a buck somehow.

People need to wake up and smell what they're shoveling.
