Lt. Rothwell;4184550Well, even if the global warming threat is overblown, we still are screwing up the world with our pollution. Take China for instance, it has some of the most lax environmental laws in the world and because of that their ecosystems are shot to shit. Plus, all those species who have been rendered extinct due to our 'progress'. There are cleaner, and safer ways to carry out progress in this world, but like was mentioned earlier, everyone is out to make a buck somehow.

Thats the sad part... all the research bucks that flow to each little bogus global warming project are bucks that could have been spent solving actual problems. Deforestation, Soil management, nuclear waste disposal, and numerous other real and pressing issues could use that money. As an engineering student i'm constantly seeing research projects that add in a line or two about reduceing carbon emissions just to up their credibillity and get a few extra bucks. I can't think of one off hand, but there have been some real streches made to fit global warming into unrelated projects just to gain some more money. Ah, I remembered one, it was some plasitc product made of corn... they claimed that by using CO2 to "puff" the plastic for long term use objects like insulation, they would be helping reduce the amount of CO2 in the air and thus help solve global warming, or something to that effect. I lol'ed.

even if global warming is false, why would you want to continue being wasteful and dependent on fossil fuels?

Regardless of how truthful global warming is, it's still a smart idea to look at alternative and renewable energy sources...there's only so much oil in the world.

I recently saw a list of everything that has been blamed on global warming over the past decade or so. It was quite funny and in a lot of cases contradictory of itself - things like more hurricanes, less hurricanes, more arctic ice, less arctic ice, etc. If you ask me, it's pretty darn convenient that your position can be supported by pretty much everything happening in a dynamic environmental system.

I'll see if I can dig it up to share.

And that's the typical response that really pisses me off.

Just because many of us don't believe in the "global warming scare" doesn't mean that we don't do everything possible to live eco-friendly lives.

don't get pissed off, it wasn't directed at you. It was directed at all the retards driving their massive lifted Ford Excursions driving around dumbly thinking everything is okay and always will be.

The kind of people who would want to buy an H2, or any giant recreational vehicle that'll roll over and crush your head. Pretty much directed at dumb thick-skulled Americans. And Bakersfield. Now don't poop yourself and go ZOMG AMERICA IS GOOOD OKAY?! I said it's directed at the dumb people who think "lol exhaust fumes is friendly, i'll pump them out of my small tank that i drive to soccer practice every day," not every American out there.

Snow may not always be fluffy and soft, but it is quite a lot better than what we have now. Wet, windy and depressing darkness sucks, even with some ice, especially when you watch news about snow somewhere far south.

I have seen real snow once, honest. =p

I remember back when we moved here in 1998 winter, there was A LOT of snow, and it was -30C a couple of times each year. It was in a weird way fun when it was damned cold, even here in the South of Finland.

...Now, it snowed in Hungary more than here, not to mention it was colder too :( I miss the snow too...but I don't miss the shoveling :p
