Hey, I've noticed that the company ZBoard has jumped on the BF2 hype bandwagon and is promoting a new Battlefield 2 Keyset for their ZBoard gaming keyboard. http://www.zboard.com/US/Battlefield2/ I've been thinking that since FH is the game of choice in my game library (though I do play other games) but anyhow I was thinking to myself I wonder how much of a difference a BF2 ZBoard would make for my FH2 experience. :smokin: So far it looks pretty cool and I know you can just switch back a standard keyset when you're not using your custom one. I saw this deal over at http://battlefield1942.filefront.com/news/PreOrder_Battlefield_2_Through_BF2filescom_and_Get_Your_Free_BF2_Headset;19016 If you preorder your copy of Battlefield 2 from EA you get your additional headset (comes with preorder) 1566.gif but you also get a Battlefield 2 ZBoard keyset free with your preorder, so I guess it's kind of a deal since all you'd have to do is order the ZBoard yourself as the keyset is free with preorder. It says orders are only valid in United States and Canada. Keyset: 7162777_sa.jpg Anyone else find this interesting? Anyone even use a ZBoard? I'm curious 'cause it looks like this could be handy. After this all that's left to buy is the ZBoard itself which I imagine, me living in Canada will be anywhere from $30-$50.

I wouldnt be to happy with the headset, its the same thing that came with UT2004 and it usually breaks after.. 2 months.. max. The board looks interesting, but i dunno.. it doesnt look much better then a normal keyboard.. and then there is all the swapping crap..

I think the swapping is as easy as just pressing a small release catch on the side and the keyset folds up easily in 3rds or in 2 sections, kind of like those little keysets for Palm Pilots. I imagine the headset isn't that spectacular. I have UT2k4 but at the time didn't have a DVD player and bought the 6 CD set which unlike the DVD preorder didn't have the headset so I'm not familiar with those tyupes of headsets firsthand. I was noticing on the keyset though it looks handy just 'cause it has some of your communication command buttons easily accessable as well little things like a button named 'Smoke' so you know exactly where you're smokescreen button is, seems handy.

definately not going to buy it.

i looked at it, *neat* i thought, but a few seconds later i thought that it's not really that useful. noisy colors, unfamiliar key positions (locks you to that one keyboard), and too specific (ie "smoke").

there's more than 104 keys on your keyboard, plenty of which are within easy reach. that ought to be enough :) if you have trouble remembering the right button use a soft tip pen and write on the keyboard. by the time you remember what the key is for, the writing will have been worn off.

When you buy the keyboard you also get a standard keyboard keyset that you can use in place of your gaming keyset, so if you want to do normal keyboard functions, like word processing or whatever. I agree it does seem a bit gimmiky but it peaked my interest is all.

Yeah, I'm not going to interchange keyboard parts when I want to type something/use my keyboard for EVERYTHING else. Whoever buys that is throwing away their money.

I'll stick with my horrible Microsoft Internetwhatever keyboard. That ZBoard doesn't look too handy and neither has it got too admiring reviews. I guess it's ok if you wan't to be effective player to max, but to me it looks like to bring more troubles than it removes.
