I bought a new nv 9600GT last week, and I reinstalled my OS and BF2142, then I added "+szx 1280 +szy 1024" to the desktop shortcut property as usual. (I don't know why I cannot select 1280*1024 res in the BF2142 graphic setting, in the res list , I could only select 800*600 or 1024*768, so was my old graphic card 7900GS). But when I finished map loading and entered the game, I found such a weird screen. I tried to delete the "+szx 1280 +szy 1024" from the shortcut property, and the game returned to normal running 1024*768. But I haven't found any problem with my old 7900gs running in this way in the past 2 years. My graphic driver is the newest 178.13, and the card is completely the nv official P545 PCB build, manufactured by EVGA. I have never OCed my CPU or Graphic card, the GPU temperature is also very normal (about 56 celsius degree). And I have no problem with my other games such as DOD:S, BF2 or WOW. So I wanna know has anyone else had this problem? Is there anything wrong with my new card or it's just a driver bug or something else? img1st5.jpg

He's just being vulgar (although it did make me chuckle, good one, Stylie).

IIRC, the 9600 needs to be plugged into your power supply separately or something. Make sure you connect it to the power supply properly or else it will work at less than half capacity. I'm not positive how to do that, though. When I was installing my sister's 9500 GT, someone told me about another cable I needed to plug into the power supply, and I told him there was no cable. Turns out he thought I said it was a 9600 GT. That's what I know about it. Not much help, but it's all I can give.

Thanks a lot for your info, man.;) But I have correctly connected the 6-pin power supply for the video card.

Have you tried running it at 1024x768?

Could be you can't set it at a higher res for a good reason. That or your drivers just don't like BF2142

Meh, I think you need to update your drivers.

Further more, the 9600GT probably wasn't your best choice, should've gone with ATI Radeon HD 4850, would've been far faster, and been better value.

There's a good $70 difference between the two, not everyone has that sorta dough to fork out.

I think you can force all applications to use a certain screen resolution through the graphics drivers, try that rather than your command line thingo in the BF2142 shortcut.

HD4850 is a bit too expensive for me IMO, and things like 9600GT or HD3850 fit my PC more than HD4850 (My CPU is only AMD 5000+ Black Edition). I bought a HD3850 first, but it seemed having some compatibility problem with my PC. I have no problem running 3Dmark05 or 06 with it, but when I run Insurgency or HL2:EP2, my pc automatically reboots in a short time after I start the game. So I changed it for a nv 9600GT from the seller.
