I mean no disrespect to anyone involved on the events that took place 65 years ago today, but if we put up a thread for every WWII event that happened on a day of the year we'd end up with a flooded general forum. As this is not FH related, should it not be in off-topic?

On topic, a salute to all who fell today, on both sides. Today truly has lived in infamy.

And in that vein, I'd like to offer you the following important historical documents (some of which you may have seen before):

Ms. Rita Fairbanks reenactment of the battle of Pearl Harbor with the Batley Townswomen's Guild. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOvnI61Ra_k

Benny Hill vs. the US Pacific Fleet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SA4SYGTITAQ&mode=related&search=

A dance interpretation of Pearl Harbor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAvkhyuARRk

Pearl Harbor meets Armageddon (viz. jumjum's parallel "Gay Bathhouses" thread) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nrVe8Ti2YQ

The ever-popular documentary of the Japanese preparation for Pearl Harbor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqgo7xWJMY0

The attack (SPOILER: in memory of Mr. Tiddles, who died for the Empire): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBNf5WTkgd0&mode=related&search=

As Franklin D. Roosevelt famously said, "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself." And dancing. And stairs. So, lastly, and most importantly, the condensed version of the Pearl Harbor commission's conclusions about the Japanese judgment in attacking Pearl Harbor, condensed ino the famous quote, "WTF WERE YOU THINKING? ARE YOU FUCKING STUPID? Nuke them."

jumjum;3412509Well, I appreciate it Mr. Stylie.

I live on a "Main St USA" *fuzzy shudders*, yep right down the street from "memorial park" with cannons and everything. I wake up every July 4th and Thanksgiving to a frickin' parade outside of my bedroom window!!! Every year there is a contigent from the Pearl Harbor Survivors association. This fourth of July there was no one.

IMO remembering a few WWII dates will do not harm. Every country has its own special dates that seem especially important, and I kind of like learning about locally important dates with which I am totally unfamiliar. I don't feel like there is any threat to the forums.

In any case, the anniversary of Pearl Harbor is not exactly an obscure, unimportant date, whether one lives in the US or not.

I heard a story about a group of Pearl Harbor vets that get together every five years. They feel this will be the last meeting of them all because in five years most, if not all, will be dead or incompacitated. Nice post Stylie.

Absolutely. Just, this isn't anything to with FH or FH2. I'm fine with remembrance, just keep it in the forums it belongs in :)
