Hey,

Anyone got this game yet? It came out today in UK and I have played the first 2 levels since coming back from work and I have to say its sublime.

It plays like any other COD game but as you might have guessed from the title 'Modern warfare' its set in todays time so it does feel somewhat fresh and a nice change from all the WW2 games.

I am fortunate enough to be able to run the game maxed and a high resolution and my goodness it looks fantastic. I thought and still think that COD2 was a very attractive game and this looks even better, everything in this game is highly detailed and impressive to gaze upon. The sounds are also very good but I did not see an EAX option :(

I was not overly impressed with the demo but the full game is leagues better and although I have only played 2 SAS mission they were astonishing.

Major Spoilers:

Spoiler: Show

Training: You have to perform an assault course inside a warehouse of a mock assault, feels very SASish and is not like your normal crappy training'

Level 1: Is the cargo ship level off the videos posted all over the internet, you have to sneak aboard and steal some cargo. It actually fells like you are sneaking about as you kill these badies in there beds as they sleep with your silenced rifle. The level gets beter as you sneak through and engage in some very intense CQB below decks in the tight corridors and vast storage areas . I won't spoil the ending of the level even if you are reading this and have not played it as its so worth playing.

Level 2: You have to rescue a prisoner in some village in USSR. You get a sexy silenced sniper rifle which is awesome and head shots are plenty if you are steady. The level felt scripted but had some decent fire fights over varied environments, its got a lame ending but still good fun to play.

I know people like realism on these boards but COD4 is actually not too arcadeish , chest shots with the sniper rifle kill and 3 shots in the chest with a rifle kill. Also you can shoot through some materials which is amusing when you kill someone behind a wooden door with a sniper rifle at distance.

If you are looking for a pretty, intense and well thought out shooter look no further than COD4!

Could you post some screenshots? It would be nice to see how the actual game looks on your PC.

Wait till online. You get to unlock new weapons and attachments the more you play, it's such an incentive to keep playing. You also get abilities like faster reloading and deep bullet impact that you can equip, it's awesome. I really like the melee too, knifing them in the throat is cool. Oh and online you can get airstrikes and helicopter strafing runs which rape the oppisition.

Thats what was cool about MOH Air. The upgrades and such... Like a 64 bullet clips for MP40's!!! Ive heard alot of great stuff about COD4, but I'll probably pass for now.

Got it when I got in from school, just completed it. Far too short, and the plot was disappointing after they hyped it too much. The gameplay was solid, and of course the end sequence = Godlike.
