For whatever reason this makes me want to play Swat 4 again.

EO Violation;4028660

Any way to customize your weapon based on what you need per mission?

Nope, you get a specific piece of kit very mission. Usually you get what you need though, the SAS get like a suppressed m21/USP/m4 for the discrete "dont wake the neighbours" kind of mission since you need them and the enemy doesn't use supressors. As USMC you tend to be issued a M4 with a front grip or m203 and a 9mm pistol of some sort. Sometimes you get a SAW or old skool bolt action sniper rifle, but the rest you have to pick up from fallen enemies or stockpiles.

There are plenty of AK's to pick up, the carbine and grenade launcher version. G3's, RPD's dragunov's, rpg7's. Some scorpions, uzi's, javelins when needed :naughty:, G36's, mp5d's...

Yeah, if you don't like what you were given roll over some corpses and you'll find the good stuff.

For those staying away from the game because of realism, note that there is a online mode called hardcore with no HUD and one hit kills.

The really good thing about COD4 is the ability to shoot through walls just like in real-life and the Hardcore Mode which is a realism server setting that has less HUDs, no indicators, no crosshairs, no minimaps, no Killcam, bullets do more damage, less nade spam, encourages tactical play, etc. The first few times I tryed it I was immediately hooked. It'd be great if FH2 had this sort of feature too.

Any body else impressed by the rather anarchist sense of humor shown in the final act of the game? ('No fighting in the war room', 'Don't call me Shirley', Grigg's rap)

You might very well think that

Yes, there's a lot of slick humour tucked away in CoD4, the dry conversations between your SAS comrades ('the good Russians or the bad Russians?') are actually FUNNY, which is a change.
