Oh my, it just gets better and better. G8 summit: Gordon Brown has eight-course dinner before food crisis talks - Telegraph. To be fair, it's not just PM Brown; it was just that the Telegraph was reporting on all the gourmandizing. The rest of the G8-ers (or should that be" G-Eaters" ?) were bathing in the luxurious waters of Hypocrisy Springs too. They all know it's a scam, and are so un-worried by any world outrage that they don't even bother to try to conceal their excess and their contempt for the "little people".

I liked the description of G8 in TV today: "It's a meeting of leaders of 7 most advanced countries and Russia."

Heres a more lengthy description of what they ate: Salve the sting of food prices with the G8 menu - Democratic Underground

Haha, I heard about that. They seem to consistently have lavish food for those meetings.

I'd have eaten it too. Now seriously, you should be beaten for even considering they would care for the "little people". (Except if this is a insider-term for asian or small grown european/american/whatever G8 corporate managers..)

I agree that they (and their moral ancestors, the all-powerful lords and nobles of the medieval feudal systems) have never actually cared about the average person. But what is different in today's shed-a-tear-for-the-photo-op world, is that the giga-rich and powerful of the untouchable United Nations class don't even bother to pretend any more that they give a damn about anyone but their own type.

It is also always amusing to see politicians of the German green party driving in the most fuel-consuming and expensive cars they can get their hands on.

I don't mind protecting the environment, but if the people who represent those ideas ruin their credibility that much they'll probably do more harm than good.

Wow. This is about like if the cops got high in their car right before the Don't Do Drugs talk at an elementary school.
