hockeywarrior2;4804252Yeah I watched that and was absolutely blown away. It's fantastic!! I can't wait till the next episode is done. THIS is how movie games should be made.
The CGI effects are quite good, and the scene showing the whole city at the beginning is amazing. Thanks for sharing this!!
Its good work no doubt, if you notice they use Models and Effects from Half Life 2 itself.
I've never played either Half-Life, but its a good movie.

What I was impressed with most was the action scenes and the costuming. I want that SMG the guy is holding! it looks just like the one in game. The outfits are perfect as well... it adds legitimacy.
This is pretty good. Impressive effects. Probably the best fan-made video I've seen on youtube yet.
You got to be a REAL HL2 fan for doing that.

The SMG is the MP7, its a real gun (though I don't think the real thing has the underbarrel nade launcher like ingame.) My bet is that guy has the airsoft version:
Herr Ober, die Rechnung bitte
20th October 2007
It's meant to be a Personal Defense Weapon, meant for people who don't want to wear a relatively bulky and heavy smg or even an assault rifle, hence the compact design, but yet want to yield something with a higher firepower than a pistol. Therefore it has been and will be introduced in larger scales for german special forces, non-combat units, GSG9 special police forces etc.
the Mp7 is its inspiration but it is quite different
Are you fucking kidding me?! That is above and beyond anything I could have possible expected-nay!-imagined from a fan vid on youtube. Even after reading the first couple comments in this thread I wasnt expecting that. Damn!
Really, if you think about it, this might be a sign of the times. It is becoming so easy and cheap to do CGI and get your hands on good filming equipment, that we may begin seeing stuff like this more often.
...At least I hope so. Could you imagine an independent movie industry that could do high quality CGI and FX without requireing a huge budget and a contract with a major production company? Movies might begin to focus on content rather than pretty effects. We might actually see some good adaptions of scifi books. Or, as this has shown, videogames.
I'm a dreamer, I suppose.
