I thought i'd start a thread for this here, since the other forums don't support the embedding of YouTube videos. I'd be interested in watching all of your favorite movie battle scenes...here are some of mine.

My all time favorite movie battle covered about 45 minutes of a movie. This would be the battle of Fredericksburg in Gods and Generals. You can watch the whole battle starting here.

However there is one scene in this battle which I find especially powerful. During the battle it so ended up that a Confederate brigade made up of recent Irish immigrants was positioned across from a Union brigade also made up of Irish immigrants, and they were firing directly at each other.

Another battle scene that gives me chills every time I watch it is the parachute drop scene in Band of Brothers.

And finally, the first German attack across Arnhem Bridge in A Bridge Too Far, and the German "surrender."

The lord of the rings battle scene was kinda anti-climactic, with the freaking ghosts just overrunning them all. Talk about Deus ex Machina.

Treu, but the siege itself and the charge of the Rohirrim make up for it in my opinion, as well as the earlier Battle for Osgilliath.

I had a problem with that, but I had even more of a problem with "go home Sam." Ruined the entire unbreakable friendship between Sam and Frodo that was central to the storyline.

PS - a bit of movie trivia: Return of the King has the highest body count of any movie, ever.
