What have you been reading?

Pentium: good for multitasking, expensive compared to AMD AMD: Good for gaming, cheaper than pentium's

How much money do you have to spend on this computer? I would say go with a 7800gt since that card is avable for $300(170 UK pounds) and kills anything in its price range.

If you build it your self you can get a good computer for $1400(800 UK pounds)

i have 700-1000$ (~€) to spend in a motherboard, processor, ram and graphic card and i would like something good, very good, in a 0 to 10 rating, it should be like 8.5-9 / 10

but reading the battlefield 2 official forums, most of the people that explain its problems have AMD... thats makes me fear a lot about the cheap amd's....

I have never experienced any problems with AMD. Currently I have AMD Athlon x64 3000+ and I never had problems while playing Battlefield 2. I run the game on 1024 MB PC-3200 RAM, mentioned processor and GeForce 6600GT Gainward Ultra\1960 XP GS GLH. On highest settings it only reads additional textures in the beginning of the game reasoning in some kind of lag while truning around. After 2-3 minutes I can play it without any problems. But the reason for this lagging is that my card have 128 MBs of Video RAM.

I start help you... I would recomend:

CPU Sockel 939 Athlon 64 3500+ (2200 MHz) € 229,-*

CPU Coller Freezer 64 Pro (5000+) € 17,-* € 17,-*

Mainboards Socket 939 A8N-SLI (NVIDIA nForce4 SLI) € 119,-*

DVD-Writer IDE DW-1640 (DVD±R/RW, DL+R) € 52,-*

Festplatten Serial ATA SP2504C (250 GB) € 109,-*

ATI PCIe Radeon X800 GTO Fireblade Edition (256 MB GDDR3) € 199,-*

Gehäuse Midi Tower € 66,-* TG480-U22 2force 480 Watt (für ATX - EPS Mainboards) € 84,-*

Ram DDR DIMM 1 GB Kit (für PC) € 89,-* ------ € 964,-* --------- Comments: The Cpu has enough power and can be easily overclocked if it should have not enough power one day. Same to grapiccard - it´s an Sapphire "Fireblade Edition" wich will perform BF-2 good at high settings and is thought by Sapphire to overclock - Sapphire gives his name that the Card´s Memory reaches at least 1100Mhz. The mainboard has extraorbitant equipment even when it is not the Deluxe version. It allready supports Seriell-Atta Hdd´s with the new Sata-II Standard that is specified to Ata-300. This Nvidia seriell ata controller will allow the great samsung SPC2504c harddisk, wich allready has the Seriell Ata-II Standard, to give high data transfers that would be not possible with one single IDE harddisk. All other components are also high quality. BTW: I´m not sure if you get everything in the US or where you live - if you know a good PC builder in the Sates - give me a link.

and get one with a "PCIe vidcard" if you can, its the way of the future :DYeah, I got it too, it works very good.

The performance still has nothing to do if you have an AGP or PCIe card - it depends at the GPU-chip that is used. Even when PCIe offers a higher bandwith - the cards don´t use it currently - but you must buy a PCIe based system cause the AGP-cards dissappear now very fast.

ANZACSASpro- pentium con- athlonds

Woah, someone has been hitting the reefer. Just a few reasons who AMD is better than any pentium. Runs cooler Can run at a lower clock and it takes a higher clock pentium to match it. EX: 2.0ghz AMD Athlon 64 3200 runs as fast as a P4 3.2 ghz. Better for games Easier to OC Consumes less power Far more stable AMD:0wned: intel long ago.
