I had no idea we had things like this in the UK; I've never fired a proper firearm before- I'd probably visit if I lived closer.
Hehe, I just read that same article before coming on the forums. I had no idea that we had such a thing either. It sounds like a rifle-shooting-the-sport kind of thing though - "One thing that has not been frozen in time is the rifles themselves. They relate to an ordinary rifle in the same way a competition bow would to one of Robin Hood's armoury. They are strange looking contraptions of metal, wood and synthetic materials."
I didn't know we had an National Rifle Association either!
Mr_CheeseThey are strange looking contraptions of metal, wood and synthetic materials."
Where's the fun in that...
The author of the article is clearly afraid of firearms, and has no undertanding of them whatsoever.
Why? He seems more bemused by the whole thing. It's pretty balanced; note that he goes out of his way to portray the people as totally normal, there' s no sense of hysteria, and he acknowledges that media are seen to blow gun fear out of proportion.
I love this comment, though:
"Dangerous, antisocial things that should be banned. The sooner we clamp down on caravans and plastic furniture the better!"
A SHOOTING RANGE? AH FUXS THAT! GUNS ARE BAD! SHOOTING IS BAD!
I'd like to visit something like that when im older, I want to get my gun licsense and get a .45.
The thing is in UK if I was caught walking down the street with a gun I would be in prisoned for like 5 years with no questions asked due to our tough gun laws here. I would however love to visit a gun range like in the MTV show 'Hogan Knows Best' :D and fire off some big guns but I don't know how easy it is do to here as I've never looked into it.
Both guns bans, were utter shite decisions.
