The movie is called in Japan: Otoko-tachi no Yamato Translates to: "The Men of the Yamato" Poster_YAMATO.jpg It is sopose to be a Japanese anti-war movie about the men served in the Battleship Yamato during WW2. This big budget film is sopose to be based off a true story and was released in Japan on December of 2005. I wanted to know if anyone here saw the film and could review the movie for me if it is worth watching it or not. The video/DVD is sopose to be released tommorow. Here is the trailer of the movie: http://movies.apple.com/movies/jp/movies/toei/yamato/yamato_new-480.mov The movie website: http://www.yamato-movie.jp/

Is this the movie that built a correct replica of the entire rear half of the Yamato?

Yep, most of the front half of the Yamato actually http://www.oshipee.com/omami/e-photo-yamatomovie-set.htm

EDIT: I found another trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nHB_1ua3z8&search=yamato%20movie

The film appears to have a lot of drama/romance, the acting and music doesn't seem to be good. I hope this movie doesn't turn out to be another Pearl Harbor movie - this time without Ben Affleck

I'm glad they made this movie. Japan's always kind of shy'd away from WW2 movies and talking about it in general :o (Btw if you havn't seen Tora Tora Tora! You should :P) On another note..didn't the Yamato experience almost no actual combat service? Besides one or two ships it sunk

I manage to see the whole movie, its a good movie, better than Pearl Harbor for sure. It seems they wont release the film outside Japan.

Here are some youtube movie clips on the Yamato's final battle, its suicide mission heading to Okinawa

OMG, how good is this movie!?! Shame its not going international, that means no english subtitles. It would be good if we could get to understand the plot right from the beginning, but the collosal battle at the end there makes up for that

From the 3 movies looks like it follows a group of sailors (the last 3 including the bada** one with the eye patch), and the capitan. The scroll is probably a letter to his wife as he shoves him off board to save him so he can deliver it :P
