There is not much difference between 768 and 1 gig. There is a slight difference between 512 meg and 768 meg - we are talking loading times. Of course I've got 2 gigs and would go to 4 gigs ASAP... Choppiness is not RAM as much as either: a) video card b) internet connection c) FSB/cpu/mb issues d) virtual memory/pagefile settings in XP All IMHO of course...

I went from 512 to 2 gigs and hell I noticed a difference of course (oh happy day, shorter loading times!!!!). But really I still do sometimes get those horrible slow down, rubber band style lagging on some maps. Usually its when theres massive ship on ship combat, that damn POW, tracers from the hurricane (on BOB mostly) and flamethrowers going off all at once from the Shermans on Iwo.

Oh well, i can live with it, I have been for years now :P.

I say several thousand gigs, you can be in your server 10x faster then anybody else.
