Ok,

Well America has this Identity Theft commercial. It's for a company, saying your identity is safe with them.

On this commercial, there is a guy named Todd Davis. He states his real social security number, then he says he knows it will be safe.

Well, on the news tonight they said his identity was stolen!

Not only did he make himself look bad, but the company he was advertising for.

Yea, it sucks his identity was stolen, but I still think its funny.;)

I've looked it up, I can't find anything that proves this.

I read about this and still think it's not that bad of a deal. He's been blasting his social security number for months now and you know every two-bit hacker out there has tried to do something with it.

Also, Lifelock says that it will protect you from identity theft, but what they really protect you from is someone taking out credit in your name. The breaches that occurred with the CEO's SS# were from people getting a drivers license in his name - not credit related. If they had then taken that DL and tried to open an account, it would have been flagged. Also, the loan that was taken out in his name was through a car sales place that doesn't do credit checks - again, not covered by the company.

Basically, for $10 a month they do something that you can do yourself for free, but for most it's worth the money to not have to hassle with it.

Funny, when I was in college, I worked in the library part time and we had one of those big green line printouts of every student's SS# that sat out on the desk for anyone to see.
