A while back alot of you recommended this gem to me. However, there is hardly alot of info on it. Even on the UBISOFT site there is not much regarding the new game. It should be out by now in the US, There site says 12-15-2006, and Im considering that a possible Euro date as I cant find it. Anyone know where there is better info? And is this an expansion pack for IL-2 Sturm???
Well i cant confirm your the date in europe, and i dotn really know a good site that will tell you evrything, maybe in the forums of the official site. I have the game, it is not an expansion apck for the original, it is just 1 game, it includes evrything from Il2 series on a DVD, all planes and maps, all addons as well, and more content was added as well. It really is a great game and it is patched all the way up to the latest patches, but there is a beta 7.01 availible for download. maybe try a gmae site like gamespot or something for more info.
Its already released in Europe, there were plans to bring it to the states but I don't know if they will follow through with it. I got an import copy from gogamer.com.
I am still eagerly awaiting the day the release the Fokker DXXI plane for IL-2 but rumors has it that it will most likely be featured in a pay-on like the Pe-2 add-on. :(
Afaik IL2 1946 is being sold (here in Europe) in two versions. One includes everything (original IL2 + all expansions, Pacific Fighters, Pe-2, Sturmoviks Over Manchuria and IL2 1946) and the other just the 3 new expansions (Pe-2, Manchuria and 1946). I think the expansion-only one is only available on the Ubisoft online shop both as a disc and a download. I have no idea about US release dates though.
It's a pack consisting of IL-2 Forgotten Battles, the Aces Expansion Pack, Pacific Fighters, Pe-2 Peshka addon, Sturmoviks over Manchuria addon, and the 1946 addon. It also has a massive guide on all the flyable planes in the game. It comes with a bonus DVD as well, covering some online aerobatic competitons and some vids of Storm Of War: Battle of Britain.
As far as the 1946 addon goes, this is what it adds (quoted from readme):
The final add-on in the Il-2 series, 46, is a door into alternate history. It focuses on hypothetical battles between the Soviet Union and Germany in the year 1946 where WWII still rages on. Both the VVS and Luftwaffe now have access to advanced jet and rocket fighters, and other revolutionary designs that only existed on the drawing board in 1945. The player will be able to fly such incredible aircraft as the MiG-9 jet fighter, the predecessor to the famous MiG-15 that gained world-wide fame in the Korean War; the Ta-183, a jet fighter designed by Kurt Tank, the creator of the famous FW-190, and the Arado Ar-234 Blitz, the world’s first operation jet bomber. The add-on will also include a large historical map of the Kiev region, which will be useful both for the 1946 scenarios, as well as modeling the historical battles for Kiev that took place in 1941 and 1944. Missions 3 new static campaigns totaling 40 missions 5 single missions 5 co-op missions New Flyable Planes: Bereznyak-Isaev BI-6 Lavochkin LaGG-3RD Lavochkin La-7R Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-9(F-2) Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-9FS Mikoyan-Gurevich I-250 (MiG-13) Yakovlev Yak-3 VK-107A Yakovlev Yak-3R Yakovlev Yak-15 Arado Ar-234B Blitz Heinkel He-L-IIIB-2 Lerche Kurt Tank Ta-152C Kurt Tank Ta-183 Special Bonus: Dornier Do-335V-13 Heinkel He-162C Heinkel He-162D Messerschmitt Me-262HG-II New Map: Kiev Also: 386 new paintschemes 84 new ground objects, including trenches New tanks, SPA and bunkers
And it has the Maus. No, I'm being serious, it does...
There's already a v4.071m beta patch out to fix a few problems with the addons, I have it and it works fine and the changes are good (although the Ta-183 is mabye a bit too good now).
according to the guys at the forums, there will be 1 mroe patch and then thats it, the game development is finished, they will then all move on to BoB.
And rumours say the 4.08m patch will include the Fokker - for free! (plus a few others, and there's a new map I've seen screenshots of)
where did you see this to, please post
It was on the official forums, someone had heard a rumour about the Fokker and there was a thread showcasing a Slovakia-themed (or something like that) map. I'll try and find it again for you.
