Ok, so I am getting a whole new computer. Pretty decent 3.2ghz, 2 gigs ram, 7900gtx 512mb card, etc...

Currently my CRT is dying out (fading in and out, random lines showing up), served me well for a few years. I'm looking to get an LCD. The thing is I love my 1600x1200 resolution on it.

I am looking at these two monitors

&

http://viewsonic.com/products/deskto...eries/vp2030b/ <--I can get this one from a store around my area for about $440.

You may ask...why don't you just buy the 1600x1200 resolution one if you love that resolution? Well there's always the price, the other monitor has a refresh time of 2ms while the more expensive one has a refresh time of 8ms to 16ms.

So, do you think my new computer would run fine on the more expensive one? Or should I not risk it and go for the cheaper 1280x1024? Would my card go un-spoiled if I get the cheaper one?

Thanks in advance

I have a stupid-sized (21") Sony LCD. It is the only piece of Sony electronics I would ever buy again.

I'd get the 21" one as its refresh rate is perfectly fine. My current 19" has a refresh rate of 8ms and I never notice any ghosting while playing. In my book its always better to get more screen space than a quicker refresh rate when both are under 8ms.

btw, can you please resize your sig as its too high

Bah, give me any crt over an lcd. Color fidelity is still a major problem and it'll probably never get fixed. I've seen several guys make a website with a for example blueish/purple background-color on an lcd, only to see it's pink when viewed from several crt's, quite an embarrassment ;) Although if anyone knows an lcd that does get close to crt color quality, let me know :D I'd pick the vx922 one, colors seem to be great for an lcd, overdrive is excellent unlike most others. http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/03/27/the_spring_2006_lcd_collection/page33.html

I just bought myself a Veiwsonic VX922 and it is a sexy screen. The only problem is that with it i cant get BF2 to run and i dont know why. It will run on my old screen but not my new one. I can play anyother game but BF2 on it. Other then that it is a varry sexy screen and the color and resoultion is great.

Oh crap, forgot, read this. http://www.insightmedia.info/news/SamsungSDI.htm This is not the monitor I read about recently, I cant find the link, but samsung has developed a new CRT with very small footprint. The article I read was for the same line, but 17"-19" for under $200. Might be worth looking into. Im all over LCD as I like a home PC to be unobtrusive, But some dudes would never dream of leaving CRT mons, I dont like the sunburn they give me!!!
