No, your 2.4ghz AMD64 is alot better than a P4 with the same speed. The 3400 number on the processor is the equivelant of its P4 counterpart. In laymans terms, the processor runs at a physical 2.4ghz. However, it would take a 3.4ghz pentium to match the 2.4ghz AMD. Thats how good AMD is. It uses less power and can run ALOT cooler. My old 3.0ghz idled at 45 degrees celsius with the stock cooler. My AMD 64 3200 runs faster, but idles at 35 degrees celsius stock cooler. I have of course changed to a better heat sink and fan and it idles at 29 degrees celsius. Anywho yea the 2.4 ghz 3400 means that it will run as fast as a 3.4ghz P4. Pentium just is no good for games and such. They run way too hot and use way too much power.

To be honest I'd not upgrade yet. The card you have will keep you going for a good 6 months to a year, and by the time FH2 comes out (which will be a long time away) the 7800GT will likely be less than £175 :D

Does my athlon 3200+ 64 bottleneck my Radeon X850 XT 256MB? I have 1GB of RAM. Sorry to post this here, but there's no point in starting a whole new thread.
