Old concept, possible good fun notheless for a short time. Altho I predict a "non-innovative, starts collecting dust on a shelve after 2hours of play" type game, so I probably won't buy it. Alas, theres just too many of them today.
As for the whole "what if?" debate, I don't think the loss of Winston would have had that big of an impact. While I won't try underestimating Winston's great leadership, he is, like most "heroes" such as Monty, Rommel and such, very overrated (strangely, much so overseas, but from an interesting article I've read, less so in Britain). It is evident that the allied propaganda machine was steaming on his side all the way, and war is no time to have dissident opinions, even in a country with deep democratic traditions such as Great Britain.
Churchill was a very good leader, but to say he saved Great Britain, and the world, is a terrible overstatement. What is to say an equaly good, or at least, decent prime minister wouldn't have been at Churchill's place at that time? An invasion of Britain in 1941 or 1942 was virtually impossible, since the balance of power on the seas was overwhelmingly on Great Britain's side :
In 1939, the RN had 15 Battleships and Battlecruisers (with 5 in building), 7 aircraft carriers (5 more in building), 66 cruisers, 184 destroyers (hundreds more were later built during the war) and 60 submarines plus a number of unimportant escort, transport and corvette class vessel. In 1939, the KM had 4 Battleships and battlecruisers (two being WW1 warships that spent most of the war as training ships. The Bismark and Tirpitz were to be finished by 1941), 10 cruisers (the Prinz Eugen was later completed in 1940), no aircraft carriers (none would ever be completed), 21 destroyers, a little more than 60 submarines (altho a whooping 1153 submarines were built by war's end).
All in all, an amphibious invasion would have been close to impossible for Germany, since in any cases the seas were completely owned by the Brits. An airborne invasion is completely grotesque and improbable.
Churchill didn't built these ships, they were there before he took Chamberlain's office. A prime minister surrendering in these conditions wouldn't have been very bright, and would have been an incredible coward. I didn't specifically talk about the Battle of Britain, since Churchill was the leader at that time, and it is possible another PM wouldn't have ordered raids on Berlin, wich in turn wouldn't have resulted in the Luftwaffe attacking British cities instead of airport. Even with the RAF mostly defeated, an invasion would still have been either improbable, or a catastrophic failure.
A new game. Germany has won the war and is spreading its lebensraum. They've conquered the US.It is a FPS which will be in stores in the end of 2007. Made by Call of Duty: Finest Hour-ontwikkelaar Spark Unlimited I'm pretty lazy right now, maybe someone wants to translate or find the english text? Fall of Liberty
hehe, Im not dutch, but It doesnt take a proffesor to translate that, but I wont try, I understood it fine though

did you change the name of the original when you merged them?
Interesting idea, will have to check this out :) Although Churchill dying wouldnt have caused the allies to lose, not by a long shot! Our secret weapon defeats all. (Hank Williams music)( North Americans are immune to this btw, something to do with exposure to cow meat in combination with large cowboy hats) Its just never been needed or used yet, because of its devastating effect. And the Geneva Convention forbids the use of cruel inhumane weapons. Although nothing specifically mentions this weapon in the convention, its absolutely cruel and inhuman!! However against Nazi's actually winning war2 or Martians Attacking with the intent to exterminate humans. It would be used if necessary, regardless of the consequences!
Sorry, but I'dd searched for a tread about this game and I couldn't find it.
