I went to Circuit City today and saw the Nintendo DS and got a chance to play a metroid game on it, and I must say it is the greatest handheld gaming device ever concieved by man. The graphics just come short of a Playstation 2. The stylus thing opens an entire new dimension to the games, it has a minimap and a weapons list and the morph button. you can actually look up, down, and side to side and jump. I must say i was shocked at the gameplay. if they ever made some sort of multiplayer hook up Via sattelite, it would make history. http://www.nintendo.com/systemsds go check it out for yourself so my words to you: go out and get a DS right now!!!!!!!! :0wned:
No thanks ,also the screen would get dirty FAST IMO

I am a direhard Nintendo fan... err atleast I was. Now though I only play computer games, but I never bought any console except for a Nintendo.
Ehh 256x192 resolution is not going to simulate anything near the PS2 as far as quality goes.
Nintendo has this penchant for releasing systems way behind the times and with horribly inferior game media formats. Take, for example, the gamecube. Besides having a retarded controller and about 2 good games, the DVDs are half-sized, thereby limiting the amount of data you can have on a game to half that of any other system.
They bill it as a party system, but lefts face it, the games just suck. Double Dash is amusing for about 20 minutes. Donkey Konga is a travesty. They could have just liscened the damn songs, and gotten some good ones at that, but no they had to produce a game for 500$ and have some local band re-sing all your classics in crap mode. Paper Mario was like a shitty version of Super Mario RPG but about 1/4 the fun and with awful awful graphics (that were, in a marketting blitz, billed as "artistic"). Metroid prime is like clawing your way through a mountain with that controller.
I have little faith for the DS. Why bother with blinding high-speed 3d rendering on a 260 pixel screen? For that matter, why bother with a tiny 3 inch screen in the first place? We have the technology.. we can make them bigger and still portable. Just wait for Sony. N-Gage got PS1 technology in a phone, I bet we can do a lot better then PS2 in a big phone.
Too bad Nintendo games suck. Okay most of them not all of them. I can't see why Nintendo cannot think of any good names anymore. They always trying to extend Mario's, Donkey Kong's, Metriod and Zelda's life. Why can't you think of a good NEW game character anymore, Nintendo?
I remember the game boy from the 1980s.
I dont see any HUGE advancement with todays model. Little plastic cartridges and a little dinky screen.
Wow! That touch screen has some real potential! I could see it being really cool for RTS games, and RPG's. Think of a flight sim on that! You'd have a screen for the action and all your instruments would be on the touch screen, plus they'd be functional!
If I win the lottery anytime soon I might think about getting one!
to all who say bad about this thing: have you actuallly went to best buy and tried it out?
the gamecube has MOHFL (was supposed to get rising sun) if theres ever a FPS game for DS, it would rock hard. plus it only needs one game pack for multiplayer and its wireless multiplayer at that..... no matter how much i hate the tendo, its still a good little device (yes i agree nintendo has shitty ass kid games with the exception of MOHFL, but multiplayer MOHFL while riding on the bus would be incredable
