Hi! I am gonna get a laptop soon which will be 3GB RAM, AMD turion 64 x2 and comes with NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS card which has 256 mb. The thing is now would that possibly run any modern games like BF2 ? Please dont suggest to get it replaced or anything like that, just want to know if that is any good or not. Thanks, Milosz

I'd aim for atleast an 8600 if I were you. The 8400 sucks when it comes to mordern gaming sure you'll be able to run Battlefeild 2 but you'll have to lower alot of settings that will make the game look very jaged when your in gameplay. With the 8600 you should be able to play with no problems at max settings.

I'm not sure that BF2 is counted as a modern game anymore, but it should be fine.

Its about 3 years old but it still requries a somewhat decent video card and so is the 8600 a better way to go. Plus the 8400 is not much more then an old Geforce FX but with DX 10.

I dunno, our computer is at least three years old, and our graphics card came out in '03, but it can still play BF2 perfectly fine.

What type of video card do you have?

foodmaniac2003;4351196First of all, what is your budget?

Second, is FH2 the only game you wish to play? Anything else?

Also, like Kubador said above, do you really need a laptop? If possible get a desktop. Runs cooler, more upgradability, cheaper.

The reason I want a laptop is for school, we have computers at school they are slow, have lots of website filters and its really anoying to transfer the date around from my pc to their computers. I wasted so much time and work on those school computers that I decided to get a laptop. I am not desperate to play games on it, I just need some 3D software and Photoshop on it which is another concern.... Do you think that Dual Core and 3G of RAM would allow smooth work using Photoshop? And my budget is up £600, however the aesthetics of the laptop count as well. HP laptops have really nice finish.

HP with 8600 costs £1100 and thats almost twice the price, is too much. As long as as that keeps up with Photoshop then I be fine. I could possibly upgrade my Desktop one day for Gaming experience.
