Many countries declared war on Germany and Japan on the last minute to show the winners that they were on their side, and hoped that as such they would get some spoils of wars or that could count on the friendship of the all-mighty winners. They didn't actually take any real actions for the most part (it was too late anyways).
Dr.FritzTotal number of prisoners = 90,000 officers and men. Not a lot compared to other captures, but still a lot.
only about 6000 saw germany again :(
How sad only 6000? :(
where they executed or just died from being neglected.
3 millions of russians prisonners died from bad conditions ... (i don't remember the percentage but it must be around 70%/90% of the pow)
The german prisonners were used to work to rebuild the ussr or just to build Staline fantasy. In 1957, most of them will be liberated thanks an agreement beween Germany (Ch Adenauer)and Ussr
