Apparently my video driver is outdated. At the startup of DoD it gives me a warning message that goes "your card is outdated. could cause problems if you run the game. strongly recommend update etc."
It then gives me my driver details
Windows Version: Windows XP Description: 256MB DDR ATI Radeon 9800 XT Version: 126.96.36.19976
and gives me this link to the site that will supposably update my card. https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=27
which just sends me to a support page with a whole bunch of links heading nowhere special.
so now my question is: where the % do I go to update my card? I don't wanna run an outdated driver forever.
This is the link to Catalyst 5.12 Windows XP - Driver Download. Keep in mind that sometimes older drivers work better with old games and that unofficial drivers might work better in some cases.
I saw this download a while back, and asked about it. "They" said that I don't need it. Is it like a universal update or something? I'd like to know what it does before I download it. Thanks for the reply btw. these tech things never get good feedback.
The download will update your drivers to catalyst 5.12, it is sort of universal as it supports all cards of the Radeon family. If you want to learn more about this download just read the readme-file which usually comes with it, I guess they write more specific information there. If you want quicker replies to your tech-questions you could post in the tech-forum :)
