From the moment I opened the box and turned on my Playstation 3 for the first time, I had sensed that there was something terribly odd about my SIXAXIS controller. The Left analog stick seemed to have problems responding to my wishes. It was most notable in Call Of Duty 4 where the lack of response would cripple me, to the point where I could not sprint. Today my fears of a defective controller have come true...for some odd reason or another, the controller has ceased to work. The PS button no longer responds to my command, so I cannot connect the controller to the system. I understand that I have played My PS3 alot over the last 2 months or so that I've had it, but I have my original PS2 controller and it still works perfectly after years of abuse, and mistreatment. Not the same case with my PS3 SIXAXIS, I have treated it with the utmost respect, and have not thrown it, dropped it, smashed it, nothing, It has remained safely atop my shelf where it sits humbly, until I remove it from its resting place for an hour or two of play. Is it possible that the PS3's SIXAXIS controllers have durability issues? Honestly, I cannot say, I have google searched such an instance, but nobody seems to of experienced the same perdicament. Have any PS3 Owners, if any on these forums; experienced problems with their SIXAXIS controller? While I have never had a hardware failure, or sudden crash or restart of my system, a dud controller seems just as much an issue.

Disagree, it happens, but you deserve better. Have you contacted the place that you bought it from? A friend also has had a problem with his controller, Mine have been fine though 3 sixaxis, 1 dual shock. You would pretty much be guaranteed a catastrophic failure with a 360, Ive had 3 now and it still isnt right, which is why its been banished to the kids room. I love my PS3. But you should get the controller replaced. My buddies would think the PS button was pushed if he did anything sudden.
